2005 Redline in San Diego.

Internet Story Description:
This is the first SSR we've seen wrecked. There aren't too many of these on the road.
At 2:30 AM this SSR containing 2 people came over a hill and took out a bank of transformers providing power to an apartment complex. Also took out a traffic signal. The engine and tranny were launched across the street where it crashed into the curb on the other side. One of the people fled on foot and the other had a massive head injury.
Fanatic Guest "Speedman" Description:
This happened behind my apartment complex in San Diego yesterday morning (7/8/2005) at 2:30am. The guy managed to take out a traffic light and three transformers that were providing power to the complex. The traffic light didn't fall over, but one of the lights fell. The guy was going fast enough to launch the engine across the road on impact, which crashed into the curb a little ways down. One of the two guys hopped out and fled on foot and the other was scraped up from the pavement with a huge head injury (but alive...barely) and was whisked away in an ambulance.

I don't pretend to think I have found nearly all of the wrecks but what I have found shows about a 1.5% rate, but not for just one year, for all of the 9 years since production began. Even then, many of these are back on the road with tainted titles.
I attribute this to loving owners, most driven pleasure use only on fair days and our demographics of most owners being mature responsible adults, possibly bordering on ancient!
