Warrantys

I just signed up for a 5-year 100K warranty. After hanging up I realized that it was not a GM warranty. They said I could go to any GM dealer. I have 30200 miles on my 2003 Redline. It sounds like a good deal but it is not GM. Looking for any help from any fanatic. Please advise, Jack

Look at your paperwork. Some of them make you go back to were you picked up the warranty. How much did you pay for the 5year 100k ?

I just bought 2 yrs beyond the factory with $100.00 deductible for $895. Only draw back is after the 1yr remaining factory warranty is over, I have to take it to a Ford dealer (that's where I bought it). Yea, I know that is funny, but the price was good and it is bumper to bumper.

That's NOT GOOD, jxtals.

Just prior to DOOPHUS turning three in April, I ordered the 60/40/0 (60 months, 40k miles with zero deductible) GMPP for $1480 from my local Chevy Dealer and they allowed me to spread the premium over one year (actually offered up to 18 months).

Hopefully, I'll never need it, however, I definitely sleep better knowing The DOOPHUS has an HMO.

Thumbs up GMPP is the way to go

I bought the same thing as you DOOPHUS and thought I was good to go over a year ago. But just this last week I had her in for 40K mile check and oil change and my GM guy asked if I had the extended warranty because it did not show on my records with GM.

Took a couple of days, but he finally tracked it down to a typo on the VIN with the dealer I purchased from in PA last year. Shows up now he says, so I'm good nationwide. Might want to check next time you're in for service.

Thanks for the info, SoonerRed.

Did you not received an ID Card with the VIN and other info?

Check your little GMPP "Coverage Agreement" booklet, Jeff. The ID Card is on the last page.

Not only does it have the VIN, it also specifies the expiration date and mileage (whichever occurs first type of thing).

Warranty

I think some care needs to taken when shopping for your warranty.

If it is NOT GM you may have a problem with getting warranty. As I understand it, if you bought from Ford (for example) and have to bring it to Ford, they have to go to GM for approval, BEFORE they will work on it. In fact, some have to PREPAY and then hope the warranty company sends you a check.
They are a LOT of Companies that are selling Warranty, but they are BROKERS.

Remember, the roof is the major concern, American Sunroof Corp filed bankruptsy over this roof for GM.

I did a lot of research and went with the GM Warranty. It cost me $1590. for 4 years and I have already got my $$ back.

Dash Cluster, Roof switches, outside driver mirrior.

I just turned 34,014

I had a Ford Extended Warranty. I took my SSR to my GM dealer, they called to get approval and got paid directly by Ford.....BUT my dealer says that they won't do this for everyone. Most people they require to pay when work is completed and the owners have to go collect from the warranty company.

I got approvals for the replacement of the Rubber Mats on the running Boards. Also they are replacing the Struts and hindges on the rear hatch. All under Warranty. I got permission to take my SSR to a GMC Dealer instead of a Chevy Dealer from the California Factory Rep. I am getting an estimate for the Factory ONSTAR and XM Radio. This will be a Digital Receiver with the Replacement of the Mirror and all Electronic upgrades.

I did, but didn't think to check the VIN - and sure enough the last digit is wrong on the card. Which is still an SSR, just not mine.

It's in the GM computer system now, associated with my VIN, but I guess I need to go back to GMPP and get the right documentation.
