What to paint a silver SSR?

I am looking at what I should paint my 2005 Silver SSR. It has small scratches aon the front and back bumpers, so it needs painting anyway. I thought about repainting it another color ot two-tone.

If I had to repaint one I'd go with the two-tone. The lines of the truck allow you to do so much.

Welcome to the forum from eastern NC. Paint is personal...it depends on what you like. If you like tu-tones, you've already got a head start. You can give it a factory appearance with silver over a favorite other color or vice versa. You could go with another solid color of choice or custom with flames etc., from mild to wild. You may want to look at other SSR's to see what appeals to you, if you haven't already. This place is a great place to look.

Happy Holidays.

Cannot go wrong with 2 tone. Come up with a creative combo....something a little different. You'll have a one of kind.

When you want a custom job done its more of what you like. Be creative and look at what others have done, and not only on SSRs but other vehicles.

Personally I would like to see a burgandy/cream tu-tone. I saw this on a 30's hot rod and it was sweet.

Didn't Chevrolet advertise a Black/Blue combination. I have never seen one but it seems like they had that combination in their ads. I have a black one and I also want to change things up without doing anything too wild. I am hoping to get some ideas at Laughlin. Someone told me if you decide to change to a two tone it is best to change the bottom half - so you do not have to mess with painting the retractable roof.

paint color

I think you shoud paint it the solid color of copper or the bronze that you see on last years HHR,S.That is A GM color that I used to have on my 1956 Chevy and it looked good on the trucks they made in the 60,s. You can get an idea of how it looks by the little remote 4 x 4 SSR you can buy at Big Lots stores for $5.00. Anyway, you would be different and tough. My opinion.Happy Choosing. Bigtomchevy

I was going to buy this SSR back in the summer of 06, but the deal didn't fall through.

I'm currently putting together a plan to paint my somewhat like this next year.

Welcome, FaithofGod . . . from Southern Arizona

Personally, I would go the Two Tone route with the Aqua Blur as the second color.

So, that color combination may still be a 'one of a kind'.

Wow, thanks!

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone. The pictures really help get some ideas. I like the idea of the pictures below:

New Paint - Chevy SSR Photos | Chevrolet SSR Pictures

This solves the problem with the top being painted and looks nice. I think I am going that route and now just need to decide on a color. I also really like the copper idea, but am kind of afraid to repaint the entire vehicle as I have heard horror stories. Of course, I am not going with Maaco or a cheap place, but I do not want the entire vehicle to have a bad paint job in the worst case scenario. I am thinking the two tone like in the pic at the link above and copper for the second color. I wish I was better at Photoshop, as I would edit that pic to see what it would look like.

I've always thought it would be cool to paint one up like the old SS's and TA's of the early 70's and add the dual fat strips from the front to the back. Sort of the retro muscle car look. And with today's paint, you could do it with a pearl to really make it shine. In my opinion, no matter what, the SSR screams for bold colors to go with the bold design. BTW... I really like the colors on MikeyRam's SSR... I'm assuming the orange is the Sunburst orange like what's on the HHR's - that is a cool color... yet, the overdone, but classic flames like on Pasta Mike's SSR look sweet too! :-) Soooo many choices! Oh... since you're painting... someone here on the forum is designing and planning to sell a cowl style hood... that would be a sweet addition too! ;-)

RRR, that was the same one I was going to buy. In fact I was all ready to make the trip when I found one locally at a better price. If he had taken $2000 more off I would have done it. He ended up trading it and 2 months later I saw it on EBay for about $4000 or $5000 less as a BIN price but I had already bought mine. Not sure what he traded for it but he lost alot more than my deal.

Anyway, I would definitely go with a 2 tone, I love the gray over silver and if you have painted wheels I would also do those gray. If you really wanted to make a statement and have the $$$ the Daytona Sunset Orange that the Corvettes and a few other GM cars are painted is very nice, top it off with with 2 black stripes over the top.
