What should I do with my hitch?

Really, this is NOT a fishing expedition but is truly a "I'm not sure what to do" situation.

I've owned my 05 now for three years and have not used, nor would I have any use, for the hitch that came with it. All this time it's just sat on a shelf in the garage, gathering dust.

I think...keep it for if/when you sell but if I do, will that bring a higher sales price?...can't really answer that one yet since I have no plans to sell the SSR and actually, I really doubt a hitch inclusion will add a couple of thousand or be a deal breaker.

Then, I think, heck...these go for as high as $500 (yeah, that's gouging but I'm just saying)...that's a payment and I only have 13 of those remaining till it's all mine.

And, it seems, there's a high demand for them and if so, should it be with someone who will really put it to good use (meaning, if I decide to sell, I'll only offer it on this site).

So, I guess, I'm looking for some input from fellow fanatics to push me one way or another since I seem unable to come up with the answer, myself.

And, again, I'm not fishing here, just wondering out loud to the fanatic group.

I'd keep it if I were you.

You can probably get $200 - $300 for it if you sell it but it will be a plus when you get ready to sell your truck.

Just my $.02.

The going rate for a new hitch with all three keys is $ 300-350 shipped, about $ 50 - 75 less for used.

I've bought and sold about twelve hitches for the Parts Exchange (at my cost), these $$$ are accurate.

I know I'll never use mine, but I'm keeping it so that the next owner of my SSR will have it along with all the original paperwork.

Keep it, Sangus . . . and use it.

I have no intentions of towing anything with The Doophus but I keep the hitch installed as a little extra protection just in case there's a bump back there.

Well, all good advice and this new post:

Update on Factory Hitches

...seals the deal for me. I'll keep it since another 130 or so are coming to the market.

I'll be looking for a hitch, too, so I can put it away and never use it. Comes with owning an SSR.....I guess. I can't imagine anybody not buying an SSR because it doesn't have a hitch included.
