Wheelskins anyone installed one
I can tell you I installed a Wheelskins Steering Wheel cover on my 2006 Tahoe back in June or so of this year. We bought the Tahoe new February 2006.
I love the leather cover. It took two hours to lace it on, suggest you put bandaids on any fingers or thumbs used for lacing, because you will get thread cuts asap. Can't use gloves since you can't grab the needle and thread.
Thought the cover might make the steering wheel too thick, as the steering wheel is already fairly thick (like the SSR also) but was and is fine. I only got the black cover, as I wanted to blend with other parts of interior.

How's the quality. I got the sample skins in the mail and they seem a little thin.
Thanks.
We got a yellow and black one to match our Slinghsot but will have to wait until December to install it on the car. Seems good. 2 hours installation - might have to wait until we get the SSR back home and we have some spare time.
Wheel skins look great. This is my Mustang. I installed a Black/Red wheelskin on my friends 99 Corvette.(sorry no pics)
Sorry for showing a Ford on this site..but it's a good illustration of a two tone skin.
I also like the car color top and bottom. I'm wondering if they can be installed over the existing original leather. Or, do you have to remove the original leather?
I found the answer on their website:
Covering Factory Leather:
Many of these models come equipped with Factory-installed leather covered steering wheels. The Wheelskins size might vary depending upon whether or not the old leather covering is removed. If the Wheelskin is to be installed over the original factory cover, you might need a larger or special order size. Please measure.

Install over the existing leather. The company you order from will expalin how to measure the steering wheel.
I think yellow / charcoal would be the ticket for the Slingshotters.
I see that they also make shift boots for the three-pedalers out there. Too bad they don't also make shift knob covers. I recall a couple of the more industrious among us here making some noise a year or so ago about doing this, but nothing (to my knowledge) ever materialized. (Same for no-holes-in-front-fascia front license plate brackets, but that's another story ...)

Got my skin from ebay. I got the perf top and bottom with the color matching my seat covers.
Installation was 1-1.5 hours. Should have used tape on fingers. My right fingers got all cut up from pulling on the string. The string must be as tight as you can pull. Amazingly it does not break. Make sure you try not to let the string get in knots. Its hard to take apart. I wished the string color could have matched my gray better, it should match darker colors great (black string).
Nice job. Looks good. Every couple of weeks or months you can use leather conditioner on the skin to clean and restore shine. Just make sure you wipe it dry. It can be slippery.

The carbon fiber or the gauges?
I would install a carbon fiber kit in my SSR if I did not have the Chrome package. The kits are a little costly...but make your interior different.

I like the carbon fiber but I really like the white background with black lettering.
The SSR gauges are set TOO DEEP into a hole and are hard to read with top down for me (maybe it's just me). I really don't like gauges that are set down in deep holes. There is a compay here in SE MI that restores/customizes GM truck gauges and they have some really neat samples on their web site. I emailed them but have not heard back yet. http://www.specmo.com/

I emailed the company about getting purple. They replied on monday. They said if I supply them with the leather they will make it for me. Just wanted anyone else interested to know.
You'll need 55" x 5.5" and the leather should be 3 - 3.5 oz, not too thick or stiff or soft.
