I was just getting ready to drive away from the service department at Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Texas this morning. (Thanks to BYERS for the referral to Bob in the Classic service department!) I'd taken it in to get the CD changer problem diagnosed (unit will neither play nor eject discs).
As I was about to put 'er in drive, I saw an elderly gentleman approaching with that expression on his face indicating he had something to say. I rolled down the window and greeted him. He walked up, looked the SSR over, and said "I just have one question for you: would you buy another one?"
I smiled and answered, "I already did, and this is it!" I told him that we'd bought a silver '05 1-1/2 years ago, and liked it so much we bought this yellow '06 three months ago.
Yep! It's a fun truck to own. Not the most practical but I only use mine on sunny days as an adult toy. If I had more garage space, I would probably buy a Slingshot to keep it company.
You know, I have been plummed talked me out of buying another SSR.
Ya couldn't pay me to owe another one. No I would not, would not
Uh, Hey your all looking at me? Well yeah maybe a 2 two tone would be nice, But only if Lexus makes it Snowball in what? Then it would have to a low miles car and the wife lets me have my allowance, maybe , just maybe
Six months ago I would have said yes. I even did some extensive shopping for a Blue one. Now I have to say No. I feel its to risky of an investment right now with the possibility of parts and support issues. I also have a "good one" it seems. It would be taking a real chance trading mine in and risking getting a more troublesome unit. Quality of build really seems to be hit or miss on these Trucks.
My SSR: '06 PB #21661 Born 8/29/05, GHL "Old School" True Duals, ADDCO bars, Eibach rear, Joe's Tune
I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
I am actually considering having two of them. I'm looking for a low priced black '03 that I can use as a daily driver. I am confident that the SSR will be around for a long time and have no doubt that the fun factor far exceeds the minimal risks involved. Happiness is only a "drop of the top" away.

Our '05 has been a great one ... the only service it's had in 1-1/2 years: an oil & filter change (getting its second this weekend) and an air filter change ... both done in my garage.
We gave the parts and service issues due consideration ... for about a millisecond! The '06's audio head unit "lost its mind" (to quote Mike in AZ) a couple of weeks ago, so it'll get a factory transplant at the dealer later this week. The service tech promised -- before I even asked -- that I would receive the CDs the defective unit "ate" back in the mail in about 5-6 weeks.
This experience hasn't changed our minds about the decision to buy #2 in the least.
Depreciating assets don't make for good "investments." But the SSR makes for a hell of a ride!

If I had the money I'd buy Ms Houtex a red one. They're her favorite, although I don't think I could get her to pry her fingers off the Boop Tacoma.
Now, back to hijacking the thread - I work out pretty regularly as well. In fact I went to the gym today just before pigging out at the department potluck holiday lunch. Well, I guess it's better than not working out.
Yes I would; actually I am in the process of trying to find a loaded aqua Blur 6 speed to match my Aqua automatic. Several out there on Auto Trader but none that I have found equipped as I would like at a reasonable price and distance.
