I would like to say a big thanks to Al's Auto Upholstery here in Hawaii for doing such a great job on my interior. I picked it up today and it was even better than I expected.
I will have pictures up tomorrow, it is dark now. But I went with black suede inserts on the seats and doors and center console. Red stitching. Very impressed with the look.

I know in previous posts/threads you asked for opinions on durability, opinions etc and probablity didn't get too much response.
I held back because I probably would have been a bit negative, but never want to intervene on the Fanatic creativty!
Personally, I had reservations about the suede appearanc in general as I saw some red and brown etc that I wasn't very keen on, but I must say that in black it looks really quite stunning.

thanks. This is actually a man made suede, Alcotta or something of that nature. It is the same suede put in the new 100K Jaguars etc. It is supposed to be more durable than even leather, we will see.
The 100th Anniversary interior on 2012 Corvettes is all black with suede inserts and red stitching, including the console and steering wheel. Exterior is all black, black wheels with a rid outer ring - looks great, and also looks great on your SSR.
Who supplied the skins? Or did Al build them from scratch? If so, he is a very talented man.

All from scratch....he did an interior on a vette resto mod that just sold for $352K....he is very very talented, and very cheap in my opinion for what you get.

Nice job.
Flying Dog. I think you have the right Idea too.
I really like what was done here but as I previously mentioned, I am not so sure about other colours. I have seen red suede in a (pretty sure and hopefully not a fanatic that I would offend) but I did not care for it. The black suede in a black seat is beautiful. Red suede in a black seat....not so sure! I think the black suede will work with any colour SSR. Deviate from that and I believe you are dealing with personal taste and future resale value. Just a late Friday opinion!

Hey lou his name is Alvin, goes by al. I don't have his number at this second but if you google Al's upholstery Hawaii he is on ukee street right behind Costco.
He wasn't able to save the seat centers because of the seam being stitches a certain way but I told him you may be interested in getting some work done and he said to mention me and he would give you a good deal. Let me know if you have any questions, you have my number.

A mighty fine job. How much trouble did he get into removing the seats. I would love to get mine done but have heard they are a real drama to remove.I have the problem of flaking leather too. vavoom

A fantastic job. Would love to get mine done as the leather has started to flake. Can't beleive this with a car costing what the SSR was. How much of a drama was removing the seats?I know a couple of good upholster's in town but how would they go removing the SSR seats? vavoom

If you need pix of the Seat removal procedures I have them. I can E-Mail them or just post them on a Seat Removal thread. Pm me if you want them E-Mailed. Just let me know.
Yeah the seats at easy, I actually just dropped it of and they did it but I did stay and watch them remove the seat. It I basically 4 bolts and a few connectors. There are also bolts for the seat belts
I'm glad Jim-n-Tanya revived this thread since I missed it in March (before I was a born again R owner). Real nice interior upgrade, Josh. Can't wait to see it in person.

Unfortunately I didn't.....I got such a good deal on it, I wasn't worried. I got a steal on the interior, and I will be getting another one put in the red R. The interior on the red one is so pristine though it is hard to want to switch it. I was sad to leave it, especially being new but a 05 6 speed was what I wanted, so it had to be done.
