New Calendar....

Ok, here is the deal: I have created this new Calendar of SSR events to make it easier for people to see when/where events are taking place. This Calendar was created by me using Google Calendars, which is still in Beta testing (that means it's not completed yet). It is not part of this website per se and the old calendar will work as it always has. I just got dascrow to make a parameter change on this website that allows me to now post this. When I have time I will add all the event info/links. If there is an event that is not on this calendar, PM me with the event info...include the link to the event thread on this website too.

NATIONAL
CANADA and other countries
FLORIDA
GREAT LAKES
MOUNTAIN-PRAIRIE
NORTH EAST
PACIFIC
PACIFIC NORTH WEST
SOUTH EAST
SOUTH WEST
TEXAS

PS: If you notice anything looking different anywhere else on the website after today's parameter change by dascrow, please PM me as we may have to set that parameter back to it's original value. Thanks, John

COOL! I like it.

Sometimes you have to refresh the page for the dates and events to pop up, otherwise it looks good.

Thanks for doing this.

I just added a color "key", unfortunately the colors that Google uses and the colors that this site uses are different. I might be able to hand manipulate them later, but I wouldn't count on it. At least it gives some sort of help.....

Hey this is close to what I was thinking of & I know you're still working on it, but why is some of it in French...well I think it is french, some other language anyways? Or did that happen just on my computer?

It's all English for me....

The design of the calendar is done by Google, and it is still in Beta testing.
The ONLY things I can change are adding Events and the colors of the Events.
If there are any suggestions, I will listen to them, but I will most likely not be able to do anything about them.

Good work on the calendar, I don't know why it is in another language for me! The only part that I can read is the Event Title for example "Courthouse Cruise", the rest of it is in another language on my computer for some reason!

The things I was looking for when I click on the event was the town or city, state or province (full name not abreviations), & start time & end time, & a link to the actual thread for other details. Rather than regions, or areas. That way if I or other SSR Fanatics are traveling & know of an event that is in the area of their travels they could choose to take part.

Also rather than all those colors for each region/area, you could color code them to country. Say Red with White lettering for Canada & Blue with Red lettering for the USA & some other color combination for other countries as I've read that other countries are buying SSRs from the USA. Or if those colors are too difficult to read, then pick something that looks good.

Just a suggestion, thought maybe it would be easier to find events going on. I hope I'm not making this too difficult for you, but it is just a suggestion & you don't have to do what my thoughts are on the calendar. Maybe your idea, being still in the works, is better than mine or someone else has a better idea than me.

Weird

When an event is posted in the forums WITH a town/city and/or time I will list it...from now on. I didn't do it to start with because no one was looking at the calendar....so it would have just wasted my time. In fact, once the location gets listed, you can click on the "map" link and Google maps will show you where it is.
Unfortunately I can't put a Link link (meaning you can just click the link) into the calendar, BUT I've started putting the link address of the event into the "details" of the event....click on the colored event bar to get the details.

I'd only have 2 colors in that case....because right now there are only events in 2 countries. I did each one of the colors to associate with the already established regions in the "Clubs, Events & Regional Discussion ". I think that people will be able to soon look at a color and associate with their area easily.

Just a suggestion, thought maybe it would be easier to find events going on. I hope I'm not making this too difficult for you, but it is just a suggestion & you don't have to do what my thoughts are on the calendar. Some good suggestions...as you can see they are being incorporated now.

An example of one with a link address in is:
WDC: Meet & Greet Pizza Party..........on August 14

And one with a map is:
5th Annual SSR-14th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise 2008.............also Aug 14th.
