The Next Generation of SSRs

Note: I received these ASC PowerPoint presentations through an e-mail a few months after the March 17, 2006, the final day of our SSR production and what would also be known as the official closing of the once great Lansing Craft Centre.

I thought it was time for me to show you that email which contained two of ASC's newest PowerPoint presentations that had been commissioned by GM. In those presentations contained the new 07 MY SSR treatments along with previews of the next generation SSR face-lift.

As you will see in the following Power Point photos, GM's 2007 MY SSR was going to get a newer refreshed look. A new chin spoiler option, new molded rocker panels along with a graceful and subtle new molded rear spoiler. You will also see preview photos of what was to have been the next generation SSR.

I believe that some of you may have already seen a few of these ASC’s slides that I shared awhile back. However, I thought now I should share ALL of them with our members for your review and comments. I for one had really liked all those newest mods that GM was planing on bringing out in 2007. It is a shame that we never got to see all those great improvements and refinements that had been proposed.

*One never knows but there might come a day where I may just want to convert my beautiful stock 2004 SSR into a very similar looking proposed 2007 MY SSR.

What Was to Be......

Marc:

Thanks for posting the info. and photos.

I liked all of proposed changes with the exception of the wheels. IMHO the proposed wheels were too plain, nothing really unique to them. I like the design of the stock '03-'06 wheels better.

Hey Marc,

Thanks for the photos. I like the improvements that would have been done. It makes the truck a little more streamlined. I especially like the intergrated spoiler. It's similiar to Eric's and it is nice to see that GM thought so too.

Thank Marc.

I guess they didn't have any plans for a interior make over.

It sure hurts deep inside knowing we'll never see these upgrades.

Thanks for the info …

I’m greatfull for what we have; I like some of the proposed items but not all of them.

I wish they had made a delivery (pie wagon) but I'm content as is.

These upgrades are available now ?

Marc,
PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG !

The rear spoiler is just a bigger version of the unit on the back of the '08 Z06.

The side body valance is being produced now by aftermarket companies, as there is a black colored set for sale on E-Bay in "parts & accessories".

The chin I have seen in the gallery posting on the SSR forum website. If I remember correctly it was a yellow or blue colored truck that had it.

I think the best thing GM could have made available (standard or optional)would be a back up sensors system.

Wow, some of those dated '05, it would be interesting to know if a chin spoiler available now was deliberatly copied from there?
We are new to the whole SSR scene (started working on our Air Dam Nov 8,07) and this kind of info is just awesome.
We have just finished a rear spoiler (mold is being massaged as we speak), that looks much like the one shown by MARC NY above. We used a 96 Impala SS spoiler as a starting point, trying to accentuate the upper portion of the gate and "stretch" it back. Anyway, don't mean to highjack the thread,
love the Marc's post.

Parts made by Starcraft-Tecstar & ASC. They would not make anymore due to design copyrights, blah, blah, blah, so the parts are being made elsewhere and you see them here. 3g ran into the same problem w/ the Diamondback SSR's custom parts. GM said no. It appears they used those items back in '05 designs for the (Model Year) MY 07 that never happened.

Photo attached is of the Starcraft-Tecstar chin spoiler. Very similar to what is being offered by one of our members. Check out the very similar exhaust panels and rear spoilers on the Blackbird and red So-Cal truck. Red So-Cal is labeled as a 6.0L prototype w/ a 6 speed, but it has an '04 engine cover w/ extended insert.

The ones currently on ebay are for a regular SSR, look at any truck. We all have those parts.

Thanks Marc

Good inside info Marc. I really like the front end that has the larger lower opening.

Hi Marc, loved all the new mods, and appreciate you sharing. Is it possible to get the PP presentation emailed ? I sure would enjoy browsing through it from time to time.
Thanks, Jeff

the upgrades would sure have made a big hit here and would have surely made a person take a double look as we park together.

I don't believe that is the case but then I don't have specs to compare the two spoilers.
