I had the 5" Bosal tips on my SSR for about a year and a half until I went with the complete stainless steel Magnaflow catback exhaust system last fall.

Thanks, Alex . . . I'm sold. I think they look great, too, but wanted to make sure they sound lower and (you said it) "throatier". Now if I could get some information on how they are put on (I know, I know, what an idiot ) and what I should expect to pay to have this done. I'm assuming a muffler shop will "cut" the stock tips off and "weld" the Bosal tips on ? ? ? One other quick question . . . should I know something in advance to tell the installer about CLEARANCES (heat-wise) ?

(Incidentally, one of your "students" from Springfield, Autodan, put the chrome stripping on my )

Gary:

The muffler shop that welded on my Bosal 5" tips back in early 2006 charged me $25.00 total, but I would suspect somewhere between $25-$50 could be expected. It's an easy job to cut off the stock tips and weld these new ones on for any good muffler shop. The Bosal exhaust tips are a good bit longer than the stock 4" tips, so there is no problem with length. You will want to decide if you want the Bosal tips to be flush with the rear facia or how far you want the tips to extend out. They are straight/blunt cut, so you will be able to notice them better from a side view. Make sure that they weld them on straight and centered in the rear facia cutouts.

Glad that you got the 1/8" chrome trim molding put on. I really think it sets off the tail lights and third brake light. I guess "Autodan" was paying particular attention in Springfield while he was "supervising" the installation.

I'm kinda disappointed. Fanatic member PVPDriver, Dailygolfer & I got our 5" tip this past week. Us three were using the same muffler shop. Both PVPDriver & Dailygolfer got their on and I was going too tomorrow. Now the word is the shop is close until Tuesday. Guess I gotta wait another long week.

Down here in the boonies, the muffler shop will open when you need them and did the job in 30 minutes.

I second that motion . . . what one driver thinks is louder, throatier, or better, another might not care for (or worse yet even notice a difference).

Had my Bosal tips put on today. The muffler shop had asmall problem on the right side as the bend inthe pipe would not allow the tip to be welded straight on so had to shorten the lenght,. It took abouy 45 min to fit but they sure look nice under those cut outs. we painted the inside black so to not see the pipe in the tip, made a good job, will post pics later. Only charged me $30.00. Does not really sound any different to the factory tips. Maybe different on the 03/04.
