05 Auto Tran Problem?

I have only had this 05 about 3 mo. Found it with only 3800 on the clock. Have really enjoyed it. Had to learn to drive it.....was really sensitive off the light....but had mastered it. Now this noon, I noticed that it seems sluggish off the light, seems like it is starting in 2nd gear. Once I got a little clearance, I puched it and it did not kick down. Any suggestions?....or trip to Chevrolet for service...still under warranty until next Aprl.

Jerry, from past threads I have read it sounds like the starter switch. In any event it must be fixed by the dealer, so as you suggested take it in. They'll know what to do.

The trans is in it's fault mode and is starting in a higher gear, take it to the dealer right away before it causes irreversable clutch damage.

There is actually a service bulletin concerning this problem for several GM vehicles. Basically, it is a bad ignition switch which fails to deliver power to the Trans shift solenoid. New ignition switch fixes the problem.

Diagnosis can be made by shutting the car off, restarting and checking the shifting...if the switch is bad, it is usually intermittent and the car will shift OK one time but fail to shift correctly the next. The bulletin describes the problem, as "...transmission is stuck in second or third gear...".

I must have been having a "senior moment" when first describing this problem.....my ride is an '04 not an '05..
