3.73-4.10-4.56.......

Here`s the scoop.....I ordered 4.56 gears from Roy at J&S. The gears arrived and sat in a corner for over a month waiting for my installer to have a few hours to do the job. He installed the gears as per my instruction and I picked up the R. In a conversation about the install, it came out that the gears were not 4.56`s, but were in fact 4.10`s. Very disconcerting. Sandee drove the R part way home and I drove the rest. While the 4.10`s were a marked improvement over stock, they just did not provide the kick in the butt we were looking for.
I called Roy and explained. He said he could make an allowance for the returned gears, but as they had been installed, it would not be the whole purchase price. Being caught between a rock and a hard place, I had him send the 4.56 gears. The R, which had set in the same spot for a week in my driveway, went back to the shop and now, after buying 2 sets of gears and 2 installations, we have the kick in the butt we were looking for. It`s a real hoot and highly recomended to anyone changing gears. T/C must be off and the speedo has to be adjusted, like everyone else, but those issues will be resolved. To say that I`m happy with the results would be an understatement and any of your fears about the 4.56`s being overkill and hindering the daily driver should be put asside. The R is even more of a thrill to drive than I ever thought possible. I`m glad I did it.
Now, I have decided to offer the 4.10`s for sale to any Fanatic that just has to have 4.10`s. They were in my vehicle for less than 40 miles running in AMSOIL Gear Lube and the setup was done by a master race car builder, meaning no noise. They are American Axle gears which are the same as OEM, but a different ratio. I feel that you can get new gears at a discount because of my mistake and reap some of the benefit instead of me sending the gears back to J&S. I highly recommend the 4.56`s, but if for some reason you are stuck on the 4.10`s and are interrested in these, just send me a PM.........Paul

Gears Are Sold. Thanks..........Paul

Also, it should be clarified that these are for the automatic trans equipped SSR (Torsen rear axle) and will not fit the 6 speed SSR.
