Has anyone used this size of rear tire?
Have you had any problems with tire rub?
Please advise very interested in this purchase.
Thanks

I personally would not go with this size Toyo Proxes S/T rear tire. This tire has in theory 6" sidewalls which result in a theoretical unloaded tire OD of 32" which is almost 2-3/4" (9.3%) larger than the OEM stock P295/40R20 rear tire. Heck, it's almost 2-1/4" larger in OD than my P285/35R22 rear tire. Most tire vendors recommend staying under 3% oversize on the OD when changing tire sizes. Besides, I wouldn't want my SSR to look like "Bigfoot". Just my $0.02.

By the way, there is a Toyo Proxes S/T tire in the P295/40R20 size (same as stock) and with the same load rating of 106.

I put a set of these on the rear just before a made a trip to Florida this month. It rained nearly every day and they stick better in the rain than the GYs did on dry roads. I put 3000 miles in 9 days and can say they are great.
They are smooth and quiet and have way more bite than the old GYs at full pedal and power shifting at 6500 RPM. Maybe that's why I only got 25,000 miles out of the first set. I love the look of the Toyo's also.

I'm still running the original GYs on the front, I had too much fun with the rears and they where getting slick. I didn't want to take a 3,000 mile trip with them. I was never happy with the GYs I have a 6 speed and you couldn't take off at any RPM above idle or they would spin. If I got on it good they would spin all the way thru first and second. I was almost afraid to drive it on wet roads. The Toyo's are much better wet or dry. I have 28,000 miles on the front tires and they are still not bad. I did have the front end aligned and set the camber at 0 and don't see any handling problems. It was a toss up between the Toyo's and the BFG KDW2s but I heard from a lot of people even the tire man that they are noisy.

Toyo Tires

I went with 295/45-20 Toyo Proxes in the back, they are about 1 inch taller than stock, no clearance problems and fill the wheelwell better without lowering the truck.

I put Toyo's on front and back. 50's in the front nad 45's on the back. They fill the wheel well better, no rubbing and stick to the road way better than the GY's.
