Its a Noise or Db Sensor. Under the Driver side Dash. Also called an Ambient Noise Sensor. If you remove it. I would use a small Resistor in its place. 1 Ohm and that should complete the Circuit without disrupting any Volume Controls. You are just faking out the system with the Resistor making the Computer think it is still attached.

I was hoping it was a push pin switch in the area the top goes down. Lol

Hey, Rob . . . is that what makes the volume increase when the top goes down?

Mine just gets LOUDER.

How does that sensor down there know the top has gone down?

They are saying it senses the increase in ambient noise. There must be more going on because it does not change until the top is all the way down and the cover is latched, at least that is the way it works in my

Good point, BlueStreak . . .

Also, does the ambient noise level change that much while parked in a closed garage?

The more I think about it, there's gotta be a switch hiding someplace.

i think there is a switch too cause it turns on all the way down and off all the way forward
so maybe two switches after trying it today

On mine it changes the volume when the top is all the way down and when it starts to cycle up it changes. So it has to be a switch or a setting in the BCM computer.
