is there anyone in the midwest area that knows of a good gear installer to install
the 4.10 gears in my 2004 ssr. i have contacted 3 different sources here in peoria, but they evidently have so much business , that they wont answer me back to give me a price. im willing to drive a few miles to make the change for someone reliable. im even thinking about seeing if pasta mike can get me lined up for the change when i go to florida for the key west run.

Hey Tony... I had my dealer do it. If you're in an area that has alot of pick-ups (farm?) trucks someone should be able to do a good job. If not bring it down and Kent ( the vette mechanic) at my dealer did a great job with mine...

i really appreciate your suggestions to come to california. golf and 4.10 gears. dont get much better than that. however; if i have to go out of state, i'll probably do it in florida when i go for the key west run. great golf there too.
I started by asking around - got zip. Then let my fingers do the walking, found a guy twenty min. from my house. He will be installing my new 4:56 gears and my headers and cat backs. If he screws up anything, I will sending my POSTS, and THREADS from the Virginia State Pen.

hey Tony,
I wanted to get a 410 rear for a 2006 ssr. Where did you purchase it and can it be done online?
thanks,
Mark-Lake Havasu City
i finally got ahold of my dyno tuner to do the installation. he is getting the gears from randy's ring and pinion. i also checked the site for american axel and you can order them there also. i probably will have to wait even after he gets the gear because i took my R in for the famed driveshaft 'tink' and they replaced the d/s but still had a noise and after some more testing, they have ordered a new rear hsg.
just got my R back from the installation of the 4.10 gears. first impression is, yes it does feel 1000# lighter, snappier. doesnt make any more noise than it did before. my tuner who did the installation said i will def like the gearing. total cost of the mod includes: gears, shipping, installation kit, shop fees and labor, all for only $678.87 i think that the cost is in line with the costs for this mod in other states where other fanatics had this work done.
anyhow i'm ready to blow the doors off of waysouth's R when i get to the keys !!

Well I will have to say one thing Ann doesn't really need any help driving, she has a lead foot all by her self. I would have to say Tony don't take your foot out of it, and drive to brake it ir she will blow right by ya.
