A couple of questions;
What was done to recalibrate the speedometer?
What was total cost to have that done?
Any idea what it does to gas mileage (we know what it does for Smileage)?
thanks

The 05-06 SSR's computers dont like the 4.56 gears. The ECM and TCM will take the change no problem (I can log the speed in my scanner against a GPS and it will be perfect) but the BCM that controls the Speedometer will not take the change. I have gotten a few close but never perfect and get at least 1-5 calls a week on this subject. I know of many that have gone back and reinstalled 4.10 gears after a while because the speedometer is so far off.

have 456 gears, corvette servo, tranny cooler. Its like the R lost a 1000lbs and turns sideway hitting second gear and leaves a rubber patch. But is nasty in the rain, wont lie.

Recalibrate speedometer is off by 5% havn't found anyone that can set the auto's..but Joe gets it close.

Great mod, only downside is slight mpg decrease.

Gotta love the torque coming out of 2nd gear, man!

I Sent My Computer To Westers Tune In Canada And A Guy Named Lyndon Got My Speedo Calibrated Dead On Accurate. I Checked It With Gps. Since I Have The 6 Speed He Removed Torque Management And Now This Roadster Has Instant Muscle Car Neck Snapping Response. Be For I Went To Westers Tune, I Payed A Guy To Do The Same Thing. He Had A Hp Tuner, Took My 600.00 And Wasn't Able To Do Anything But Change The Fan Settings. So Be Careful Out There And Make Sure The Programmers Can Adjust What You Want Befor You Pay Them. I Know Westers Tune In Canada Has A Good Track Record And Won't Do You Wrong. And Now, I Really Love My 456 Gears

Right now I'm worried about #/32" of tires per burnout.

The 03-04 have no problems with the change, it is only the 05-06 that have the problem.

John, only a small change in mileage. Highway revs are higher, but not outrageous. Worth every penny in my book.....Paul

Recalibrate speedometer is off by 5% havn't found anyone that can set the auto's..but Joe gets it close.

Gears $339.00 and instalation kit $129.00 labor $250.00 from a friend been doing it for 40 yrs.

Gas Mileage well maybe 12-15 mpg havn't clocked it even going to Springfield. But at 90 mph rev's are little high if I remember right about 2600-3000 but pipes are alive and cool...

But the HPTUNING also really woke the R up too. once agian done by Joe.

As far as speed gos get a GPS and use that for your speedometer if you have an auto.

The fun blowing off cars that think your a slug well PRICELESS

Gears = $350.00
Install charge 1 case of Miller Light
Rear End noise = NONE !

Milage (Average on the DIC)
Before = 17.3
After = 18.4 (the vehicle is not working as hard)

Speedometer is right on

HiBeams recomended this guy and he is GREAT !!!
Brian Herta @ PCM for less computer tune

Of all the SSR's that the speedo is right on who's got 6speeds and who's got auto's?? Just wondering how some are able to set it right and the rest of us can't get, either with superchips or HPTUNE. reason being that I bought both and either one can't set the speedo, I am over$ 1000.00 bucks so far. The performance tune with HP is awsome my R screams just I am off about 5% or so. just asking....also wondering if the guys that have it right on, did they lock your computer??

Mine is a 2004 auto
As I remember, the tuner I went to said the 2005 & 2006 was the one that they have all the trouble with. I don't recall auto or manual being as much of an issue as the year.......

I purchased a 'Diablosport Predator' for the project. The Predator would not fire up so I am waiting for the replacement. Diablosport says ECM & TCM are both accessed with 'Predator' and gear ratio settings are available.
I guess I will find out when the new one gets here.
