Abs ??

I'm wondering how far we can stray from the OE tire differences without triggering the ABS warning light.

I've ordered new tires that are slightly larger than OE.
The rears ane 1.16" greater diameter
The fronts are .70" greater diameter
____
.46" change overall

This equates to 8.98 revs per mile variance from OE ratio.

I would think that this would fall well within treadware parameters.
Has anyone played in this arena?

I don't know the tolerance limits on the ABS, BUT your analysis on the change in tire diameter being "well within treadwear parameters is a little optimistic! If the rears are 1.16" larger in diameter, that would mean 1.16/2 = 0.58 inch tread depth change! Our tires typically START with only 5/16" TOTAL tread depth!

The difference in rpm between the front and rear tires is also not the only effect that the ABS sensors are used to monitor. The computer also tracks tire rpm versus engine or driveline rpm. This is why SSRs whose rear axle ratio has been changed are very unhappy until the computer is told about the change via tuning software. When I first got my supercharger installed, before Lyndon Wester got the new tune to me, I had a mismatch between the gear ratio that Magnusoin assumes in its program (3.7) and the one I actually had installed (4.56), and I had to shut off the TRACTION CONTROL to drive the vehicle.

That being said, a number of people have change to tires that are nominally the same size but still are significantly different in actual diameter - over one inch larger in one case I personally examined - and there was no squawking from the ABS. So, I think you might be fine.

Jim G. I've sent my PCM with TCM off to PCMforless for a custom tune to incorporate my tire size and 4:10 final drive ratio. I'll give a report once everything is installed and road tested.
