ABS Module - Module Master

It would see that I am not the only one in the forum, who has had issues with their ABS module. I ordered a new one, fomr GM but it showed up and was faulty.

Aparently GM has had quite a few modules show up that didn't work and they are since told their dealers not to install anymore until they can find out what the problem is.

What this means is your Anti Lock Braking system will not function properly. Your main brakes will still work, but they won't be anti-lock.

Fortunately there is a place to send your module out to have it rebuilt. It's called Module Master. Typical turn around is 2 days and it will come with a 5 year warranty. Mine will cost me $153, to be rebuilt. Once I get it back I will take my replacement one and have it done, so I will have a back up.

Our ABS module is the "Kelsey Hayes 325". If you call them say hello to Janey, who typically answers the calls. She loves these trucks!

All work performed in the USA

OK, so I am sick and tired of the chime and warnings on my SSR that happen everytime I drive it. I get the "service brake system" error, the chime and ABS lights come on. I am seriously interested in sending my module out for rebuild if it will solve the problem. My questions are, where is the module located and how easy is it to remove and install? Can I drive the truck while the module is out? I need to get this fixed.
Thanks all

No you won't be able to Drive it. The Hydraulic System and Electronic Controls are Integral to the ABS. It Controls your front brakes through the Traction Control Switch via the Microprocessors. There are many functions that are related to the ABS even your Transmission receives signals from it. There is to much to mention.

MoodyBlue,
Thanks for the info. I was sure I could not drive it, but, just had to ask. I did not think it was going to be like when I sent out the IC to get repaired. I was able to still drive it with it out. But my main question is...where is the module located and how easy is it to get it off and on?

All,

Another place that does rebuild is ASI:

Automotive Scientific Inc. Your #1 Source for ECU, TCU, ABS, EBCM, Climate Control and Speedometer Repairs

My girlfriend's Jetta had the same problem and we had them rebuild it. Quick turnaround, but a bit more expensive than BBA as I remember (I think BBA couldn't do the Jetta module.)

3 years later and it's still going strong!
