accessory gauges

We have the accessory gauges on our 2004. From what I have read and been told they are not accurate and are too hard to read. That being said I would still like them to work.

The transmission gauge works fine when I first start the truck but after the truck warms up to temp. The gauge has a mind of its own. Some times I will look at it and it will be working and the next time I look at it, it will not be working. Every time I think about taking it to the dealer it works. Then the next time I look at it..It is not working. It cycles every time we start the truck.

Has anyone worked on these?
Is there an adjustment?
Do you think it is the Gauge?
Is there a sending unit?
Do you think it is the sending unit?

My first thought is that the stepper motor inside the gauge is failing.

Call Dick's Speed-O-Tach in Phoenix, they can probably fix it for you.

the tranny gauge in my '04 does the i may work for now thing but everytime i shut it down and start up again it works fine.its even done the going down the road work and look back at it and not.then 10 min later its working.at this point i take it as a ssr quirk and as long as she's running and shifting fine i wouldn't worry about it.the only reason i bought the aux gauges was for the voltmeter in it the other two are not that important in my life.just my .02cents delma

I like my tranny gauge, especially when pulling up the mountains that we have here. But it does seem to be on the bottom of the list when it comes to my computers priorities. After start up it may come online right away but usually it takes way more than that, maybe 30 + minutes. But when it comes on it stays on.
