Air Conditioning Not Working
While riding on Sunday we turned on the air and it did NOT work. THAT IS the fan blows the air conditioning light comes on BUT NO cold air. We messed around with it and suddenly the cold air came roaring out.
Anyone else had this problem? Is there a bullitin out on this one?
Thank You
Butch
We had a similar failure right after we received our SSR. (It only had about 150 miles on it at the time.) I parked and turned off the engine for about 15 seconds. I then restarted the car and the A/C was on. We've not had the problem again. That was about 500 miles ago (one month). ?????

mmmmmmmmmmmmm...I find that if I am running the air, when I stop I have to turn it off and back on for it to blow cold...otherwise, just hot air. Also, on Saturday was running the recirculate to keep fan on high during stop/go traffic and recirculate light would turn off??? This is new...possible high speed fan failure???
Second of 4 A/C vents on my dash, left to right, has very little air coming out. The rest blow real good. Do they have regular ducting behind them or are the ducts molded in the plastic dash panel?
There is a small piece of duct that connects the vent to the main duct work. This small piece is held in place with a piece of duck tape. It is possible that it may have shifted causing a restriction in airflow.

Check your duct, it could be the rectangular tubing it's connected to behind the dash came loose. I found when I did my xm on my radio and removed the dash a little that the two center ducts were not connected good. I feel that they should be sealed with some form of tape instead of just being pushed into the tube and one little piece of tape holding it..

We DID drive about 15 miles parked it for about 45 minutes then head home. That's when we couldn't get it to work. I'll have to try it again this weekend and see if the scenerio can be recreated.
Thank's for the idea.
Willl report back here with the results.

My 04 suddenly started to blow HOT HOT HOT air. It was about 90 outside and 130 inside. When I put the temp control to the HOT side instead of the COLD side, it blew COLD air. Ha ha ha...hot comes out when set to cold, cold comes out when set to hot.
Dealer replaced the environmental control unit or something like that, and tadahhh....cold from cold, hot from hot. It must have been a chip or something because it only took a few minutes to replace, but took a week to get.
I can post the exact part if anyone cares. I just don't have the paperwork with me right now.
my air went from cold to hot last Thursday, back to the dealer on Friday morning, the error codes were not in the book so they called for tech help, ended up wiping out the computer and reprogramming it, they said I should not have any more problems,

NO I did not work on his truck, and I am NOT an executive with GM, nor was I consulted about the use of duct tape in anyone's vehicle. I have NO knowledge, as to whether or not Duct Tape is used on a regular basis in any GM Vehicles.
If you have any more questions as to whether or not I had anything to do with anyone's vehcles, please direct them to my lawyer. Thank you.

I called your lawyer. He said if I only bought FOCKS brand duck tape. You MAY NOT sue me.

That sounds right, although there are some complaints about Focks Brand Duck Tape. Just because one or two people found some small duck parts in the glue. I mean come on, whats a little duck beak between frends.

Air Conditioning Cold/Hot Air Off/On
In cooler weather my air condition worked fine but in 96+ degrees it sometime works, other times just heat, & sometime works but kicks to heat. So this week I took to local dealer and they discovered an electrical problem caused by the fuse box overheating.
I have never heard of a fuse box overheating, but glad warranty still exists. Understand the fuse box cost $700 plus labor. I will let you know how it works once the new fuse box is received and installed.

I will keep you informed to see if the dealer did pinpoint the problem. It's clearly an electrical problem.Let's keep in touch!

5/30/08 - Dealer discovered relay-loose connection in underhood fuse block assy. There was no way for them to tighten the connection so they had to replace the underhood fuse block. They replaced the underhood fuse block assy, retested and everything now working. Have a good dealer who takes the time to test everything. Hope this helps some of you who still are having a problem. My a/c unit has worked and not worked intermittently since I got it in '05. If I turn it on and off enought times it starts working. Last month, the fan shorted out and blew the head gaskets. They said that the intermittent fan failure caused the a/c unit to not get cold. I thought they were nuts but figured it was fixed. Didn't have a problem for 3 weeks with the a/c but it is now doing the same thing. It always works when it is in the dealership.

they always work when they are in the shop.i waited till mine was not working and drove by the dealership and showed them what was happening.i took it in a couple days later and they replaced the compressor and i think the dryerthey never told me there was nothing wrong with it all the other times just said it was working fine then.i have a very good dealer that does my work.every once in a while if i shut the truck off without turning off the a/c when i start the truck back up the a/c blows out hot air.all i have to do is turn the a/c off and turn it back on and it works fine.
