Another Iluminating Problem

Are the HVAC controls backlit like the speedo pod (with bulbs) or are they like the steering wheel controls and the whole switch needs to be replaced?
My system switch is now out.
It's getting pretty dark in the cabin lately~ I guess 4 years is the time limit on bulb life!

The problem with all of these modules is that they're made for fast automated assembly. That means the bulbs are soldered in and they're screwed together. I had the lights in my A/C control on my Silverado go out one by one (until only 1 was left). I bought a new unit off ebay since it was way cheaper than the dealer. After that, I tore the original open to see how hard it would be to replace the bulbs.

Not hard really, but a pain the a$$ none the less. Radio Shaft has a part that may work for my application, but dunno if it'd be applicable for the SSR A/C module.

Replacing bulbs in a sealed switch isn't a problem on my end. "We can rebuild him. We have the technology".

I figured with the guys here who have done Nav system upgrades on their sound systems would know if these are individual lighted controls. I'll PM BYERS and ask for the PN and availability.

When my speed 4 went on my HVAC, the mechanics assumed they could just go in there and replace one thing.....but they came back later and said I needed a whole new unit. BTW speed 4 on mine still doesn't work, but I actually have gotten used to it and like it that way now.
