auxillary plug in bed corrision

For the first time I looked into the opening of the auxillary plug on the passenger side in the bed. It has never been used and is full of blue-green corrision. Any suggestions? 8,000 miles, '04. Should I apply that corrision grease or get dealer to replace?

I would try and get the dealer to replace it.

Have you had any battery problems or have you checked your battery? That seems excessive to me!

Is any part of your bed wet or damp? There have been people with a leak in the rear which caused the back to be moist all of the time.

OH you mean the rear 12V outlet? OK checking mine now. That looks like water damage to me. Did you have anything plugged into it for any length of time? Maybe a trickle charger or something?

The first time I ever opened it to look inside is the way you see it now. Have never opened it or used it!

Mine is clean. I would have the dealer replace the plug, it could be cleaned but I would make them give you a new one. It might also be from being so close to the battery not unlike battery terminal corrosion. I would be curious to see if any one else has that as well.

Thats a pretty color, reminds me of turqoise. I would say unless you have been parking your truck under water, the dealer will have to replace it. Look for discoloration in other places in the bed to see if you have a leak.
