Back from the dealer. Here's the outcome.

2003 SSR:

Tink coming from driveshaft when placed into gear.
Placed fluid in differential. There's no difference, tink is still there.

Top window molding on passenger side keeps tucking under window.
Weather stripping loose. Re-install weatherstrip. So far so good.

Rattle coming from behind dash when moving slowly & accelerating (a fluttering).
Could not duplicate.

Front suspension “creaking”/”squeaking.”
Could not duplicate. It did it as soon as I left!

Inside rear roof panel above rear window coming loose. Rattles.
Panel loose. Repair & reinstall panel. Works great now! No noise!

Passenger door vibrates & rattles when radio is on.
Right door speaker electrical failure. Replaced door speaker. Sounds great now!

Radio loses signal at times. Check connection.
Normal

Radio lowers & dims significantly when the top is being put up or down.
Normal

Please align headlights.
Left headlamp bulb electrical failure. Replaced bulb. It looks the same.

Trunk lid does not open all the way when unlocked.
Trunk latch misadjusted. Adjusted latch. Still doesn't work!

Fog lamps shake easily. Needs to be tightened.
Fog lamps loose. Repair & tighten fog lamps. BIG difference!! Barely no shaking.

When taking a right hand turn at about 35 to 45 degrees, there is a high pitched squeak.
Rack & pinion spool valve noisy. Replace rack & pinion & set toe. Noise is gone. So far so good

Cooling fan does not work all the time. Tends to overheat.
Normal operation, coming on at 226 w/ ac off. No problem found. Maybe it was just me.

Front air dam came off. I have the part.
Reinstall deflector. It's on there. But it sure is ugly!

All roof linkage & clamping parts need to be lubed. Lots of rattling.
Repair & tighten roof supports. BIG difference. Almost no rattles! This one makes me happy!

Arm rest rattles a lot.
Console loose. Repair & tighten console. Again, BIG difference!

Weather stripping on the inside passenger door is coming loose. Weatherstrip loose.
Weatherstrip loose. Reinstall weatherstrip. Great!

All in all, not too bad. I got most of my list fixed & that is more than I expected. It was a great experience with this dealer (Ancira Chevy) & was kept up to date on a daily basis. KUDOS.

Mikeyram,

The driveshaft "tink" has a reference document that instructs them to change the shaft.

For a follow-up, you caould have them look up:
"PIP 3420B" dated 10-25-05
Document ID 1717272
it is for the '03-'06 SSR
It instructs them to install driveshaft P/N 15247556

Good Luck,

Mike

The radio lose is because of the radio antenna. Check for posts that can help you have a better signal. I have had chevys in the past and they all have bad radio signals although I can think of many other manufactures that have even worse signals and thats in the city.

Radio lowers and dims is normal for all bose sound systems. Check your owners manual.

Hope this helps with the confusion. Glad to hear that most of your problems were fixed.

Hey Mike, I know I got the tink in my '04. I hate to take in. Is it a permanant fix, do they actually cop to the tink or is it a run around? Thanks, Scotty ?

Or maybe even check with JmG and fan replacement. He s a lot closer. Differetn model fan, Dual and 24 air damns in stalled.

After re-reading this, I can barely tell I had been out drinking martini's, so I am not going to correct myself.

This may be coming from your sway bars which I have to lube occasionally. I use a silicon 3M grease which works well. To tell if this is the problem, push down on the fender several times quickly. Do you hear it now????

P/P

Peace

It is a drop in install
but what I think you need is his aux-fan that goes in front of the radiator and condenser
that and MikeAZ's air deflector to replace the 75$ plastic rectangle that fell off and your cooling needs will be met
p.s. see how well it blends in?

P/P - I like to use LPS-1 on the rubber sway bar points. It's greaseless and seems to last pretty well. It does take a beating in the rain though.

I appreciate your plug for the Aux Fan and Air Dam. The fan really does a nice job of filling in the voids in the standard system operation and has eliminated a lot of owners concerns.

Is your 06 an automatic? Are you seeing 226 this time of the year or was it a summer thing? If your seeing it now is it in stop and go traffic or are you seeing these temps periodically while your underway?

I realize this subject has been beaten to death and that Mike and JimG as an aftermarket set up that is better than the factory configuration. But I just wanted to let you know I have an 06 (6 speed) and I have never seen 226 and I have the stock cooling system. I have almost 6k miles on it and it's seen OAT of 110 already and OAT in stop and go traffic of over 100. The truck runs just a tad over 210 with A/C on or off regardless of OAT. Next summer I'm going to put it to the test by taking it on the strip in July.

Based on how my truck behaves, if you're see 226 with outside temps in the 80's and below you have a cooling issue.

Now that I know how the ECM controls these fans I'd like to know how the dealership ops checks them. Do they just kick the AC on and put the blower on three and watch the fan come on? How do they monitor that it's coming on 100%? And do they see if it will come on at 100% without the aid of the A/C?
