Bed Cover Removal

Does any one know the correct procedure to remove the bed cover?

At one time I had an instruction sheet showing me how to do this.

I know to disconnect the light wiring and the two bolts. But there is something about dropping one side down in order for the hinges to clear.

Compartment Lid Removal

Just checked my 2004 Service Manual and the text says "move the rear compartment lid rearward until it stops"then to"lift lid upwards".The figure shows the hinge to have two L shaped slots that align. with the pins. That would be the reason for moving it rearward first, before lifting out.Sorry my scanner not set up or would send picture.

In addition to what Richochet said, after the hinges are loose, you may need to pull one side in a tille to lit the cover out. The hinges tend to flex outward a littlle once loose.

We found it worked best for me to get inside the bed and lift, while Donna hlps from above and helps guide me. Putting the lid back on was a little more difficult; tried to do it with both of use outside the SSR. Worked much better once I crawled inside the bed again.

Thank you all. I was able to remove and replace it.

I am installing the kit components for the bed rails.

I did the fit up last night. I will get the bed rails painted this week.

The 2004 Owners Manual does not have the instuctions to do this.

Thanks again

The bed rails were offer as an option I got mine from a GM dealer about 6 or 8 months ago. Not sure if they are still offered.

Some of the Fanatics have access to GM Parts inventories around the country maybe they could help you locate them.

I'll check to see if I have the part number.
