Beyond Warranty

My truck is a 2003 with 20100 miles on it. There is no warranty as I bought the truck used from a dealer. The main fan motor is not working. I want to take the truck back to the local Chevrolet dealer to see if they will replace it. I don't want to fork out $600.00 without a fight.

I read somewhere that GM has a fund to help pay for parts that go bad that may be out of warranty. Can anyone help with information about this?

Talking Mike In AZ main fan....

If the above doesn't work...I'd buy a fan from Mike in Az $300 plus shipping and it is a very easy install... I know I did it...The dealer here was $720 with labor...$609 was the GM fan...
Much cheaper and a better fan from Mike....

i agree. But I already have his tranny cooler, aux fan and spoiler sitting on my workbench waiting for the main fan issue to be solved. What I am saying is that I have spent allot of money and haven't corrected the problem. I want GM to take on some of the responsibility. Yes, I have total faith in Mike and before I let GM touch my car we will have to come to an agreement that costs far less than $300.00. If I don't succeed, it's Mike's fan for certain.

Good luck! My Chevy dealer has not been a lot of help with our SSR. Why? It's used and we bought it from a private party. If I would have bought it from them new, then they are more likely to toss in some customer satisfaction dollars from the warrantee exception fund. However, if you bought it from them used, then maybe you're in luck?

Good luck!!!!!

You have to ask yourself if this is a fight worth having, let alone winning: you KNOW that piece of junk GM fan is going to fail again, and that it will do so precisely while you are in a traffic jam during the hottest day of the year (because prolonged heat is what generally provokes the darn things to officially give up).

So, why even go through the hassle of trying to get the GM fan at a discounted price? Would you buy a cheap suit that wrinkles immediately and that doesn't fit you if you can get it for a discounted price?

A far better idea is to get Mike's replacement main fan. THAT would actually be solving the problem.
