The Diamondback truck had Brembos front and rear at the Family Picinc at the Craft Center in '05. Something is out there that will fit our babies from them. Hope you find out more.

It looks like Brembo is not ready to proceed with a big brake kit for our SSRs. Apparently not enough interest for them.
However, Revolution Brake Company is considering a brake kit. I have already provided them with the specs they need to build the kit. They are ready to start, and could have the first kit ready in about 2 months. This would be for a full front and rear kit.
They would like to get a minimum of 5 SSR owners comitted to buying a kit before proceeding. The final cost will be determined by whether or not they get the minimum 5 orders. They have a deposit from me already, and could start on mine, but the cost to do a one-off kit only would be unreasonably high (at least for me!!!).
They built a brake kit for my wife's PT Cruiser, and it is great, so I know they can build a quality kit for our SSRs. Every time I drive her car, I wish I had a better brake kit on my SSR. Big brakes, big difference in performance.
Of those who expressed interest in the Brembo Kit, how many would be interested in signing up for a Wilwood Kit instead? I'll start the list here, and as soon as we have 5, I'll forward to Revolution Brake Company and we can get started.
So, here's the Wilwood list:
1. AKWARES
2. ?
3. ?
4. ?
5. ?
more?
Add your name here and let's see if we can get this project off the ground. We need a beefed up braking system for our heavy SSRs, especially if we're going to make them faster.
My question is, what is the "unreasonably high" one off price to do yours alone? That at least gives the first 5 buyers a not to exceed cost to purchase the brake setup.

The one-off cost was going to be north of $9,000!!!!
A typical custom big brake kit will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $3000 per axle. This is a complete kit, 16" drilled/slotted rotors front, probably 13" rotors rear, powercoated 6-piston calipers all around, powdercoated rotor hats, synthetic brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, parking brake components, everything you need to replace the stock brake setup. I'm not saying that is what this kit will cost, but just to give you some idea.
I haven't noticed a significant need for bigger brakes since the Magnacharger install. For even half that amount I think I'll just replace the pads regularly - thanks anyway.

AKWARES
Wilwood is 5 minutes from my house. I have gone over to the plant and talked to the reps when I was thinking of upgrading my Grand National.
Their systems seem reasonably priced compared to Brembo.
My one question is this-Is it because we are 6 lugs that we can't adapt larger GM brakes, as are used on Vetts?? Oh yes, add me to the list.

A Brembo kit all the way around was to be in the 2K neighborhood. Wilwood is a quality name for brakes. I can live with 2K, but I need to know its not 3K or 4K for the ensaumble before I commit. I really need a more definative $$$ answer. Put me on the list for the five...but...I need that question answered.
I'm not sure our trucks can handle a 16" rotor with only a 19" wheel up front. Did they say it would?? Also never heard of Revolution Brake Co. I guess I need some enlightening.

The Brembo kit I was trying to get for our trucks was the GT Big Brake kit, which is a bigger rotor, bigger caliper, than what I think you are referring to. A front Brembo GT kit alone is in the $3K range. A simple oem replacement kit featuring Brembo components is certainly less. But we are talking about a major performance upgrade, not just a swap out of similar size rotors and the smaller, 2-piston Brembo calipers.
Brembo doesn't seem to be interested in moving forward with this, so that's why I'm now talking to Revolution Brakes, the company Wilwood referred me to as a quality company that takes Wilwood components and builds custom kits for those applications not offered off the shelf by Wilwood directly.
The 16" rotor should fit fine, but a template is needed to test fit. It is a question of caliper clearance and rotor/hat thickness. Keep in mind the larger diameter rotors are thinner than the stock rotors.

I did the same thing for my wife's PT Cruiser. Wilwood sent me to Revolution Brakes (then called Precision Brakes) for a one-off kit. It came out nice, they did good work.
I don't know what the Corvette uses, but basically, if there was a setup that would fit our trucks, Wilwood would be trying to sell it already. So, I suspect the lug pattern is one issue, yes.
Revolution already has the specs and is ready to send me a template of the rotor and caliper for test fitting. They are holding off to see if there is any interest beyond my one kit. Also, they will need to send a template to someone with stock rims to make sure the kit will clear the stock rims as well as larger aftermarket rims like mine. If anyone wants to receive a template, let me know. Basically, they email a drawing to you, you print it out, cut it out, glue it to a piece of cardboard, take off your rim, and see if the template fits on the inside of the rim without touching. They will need one for the front as well as for the rear. Based on the results, they will adjust rotor diameter, thickness, hat thickness, and caliper size accordingly.
So, this list is now:
1. AKWARES
2. Pania
3. TeddsSSR
4. ?
5. ?
more?
Anybody with stock rims want to fit a template for us?
