I think this only happens on the two tones.

That is not true.

I have a two tone and never have I ever smelled something burning inside or outside my SSR.

Burning smell

I had a problem with a black plastic type substance melting on top of my muffler on the passenger side when I first picked up my ssr. Technician looked at it and said there was nothing really he could do about it. He did scrape it off the muffler and got as much as he could out of the hole in the body where it came from. It must get real hot and he said it was probably some insulation material that was in the hole. Once it was burned up it stopped but still is plugging the hole.
Good Luck!!

yes I have noticed the same thing. It was in the cargo area.
I removed the cargo organiser and left the cover opened for a few hours, It seems to have cleared up........ or finished burning up ???

Thanks Cliff & rigpig. I can handle the odor. Was hoping it's nothing serious. Thanks, Frank

I get the same thing in my '06 (3000 miles) ! ! Not a real strong odor and not even unpleasant, just the smell of something overheating (maybe the new heater being used for the first time on cool evenings with the top down) or the smell of insulation smoldering somewhere. Hard to describe it actually.
