No such animal that 'came off the line'
I took an Avalanche and seriously dropped it and it is still a 4x4, but I think trying to add 4x4 to an SSR would be a much much larger task, if possible at all.

There was talk at one time of an all wheel drive version. There would be issues with tire sizes, which would need to be a match for a 4 wheel drive system to work, or you would need to have a really good mechanic calculating which gear ratios would work with the tire sizes.

All the components are in place, at least for an automatic version. The hubs are already splined, and the oil pan has the hole in place for the cross shaft. Find a crashed Trailblazer SS, and you should have all the mechanical components you need to do it. It even has a 4:10 gear ratio front and rear from the factory.
