Unfortunately it's something you're going to have to get used to. The A/C in these trucks sucks.
I live in Florida and once the inside heats up it's almost impossible to cool it down. If you run it on "recirc" with the fan on max it's bearable.
I've had the dealer check it out and according to them it's "working fine".
Never could figure out why they couldn't put an adequate A/C system in a 400hp truck.

I dont know my ac works fine I live in Florida I would say if your using your rec.button then check the fan make sure you have both speeds and then have someone check your ac pressures to make sure you have the right amount of 134 in the system. My two cents good luck.

It is warm here also but my 04 gets cold enough to turn it up a notch or two. I did have a leaky high pressure valve (the valve you would attach a gage to) and my mechanic recommended NOT to try and replace it (maybe just my mechanic). He put a cap on the valve that has a seal in it....doing well for some time now. Back to yours....and what has not been emphasized enough in these posts, you know that the a/c (and specifically the fan switch) needs to be turned off when you start the truck. After starting the truck you can turn the a/c on. If the a/c is on when you start the truck chances are the a/c compressor will not function. Just one of the SSR quirks. If you already knew this please forgive me.
Been through this a bunch of times on mine. Same thing - it won't cool the cab down on the really hot days. Several trips to the dealer - "operating to spec". They did a service which is simply making sure the charge was topped up. They even discharged the system and recharged (there was a TSB out on contaminated systems back in '05 or '06).
Finally I bought myself a temp probe and documented how frequent it was cycling. They were convinced to replace the thermo probe in the evap core. Of course, now it hasn't been hot enough since getting back from the WDC to really put it to the test.

there are times when I can feel it's pushing warm air, I've had success turning the fan off and restarting it and voila', cold air. They also have a freon leak issue, live in the hottest place in the south, and stay cool.

This is exactly what I said. Turn off the fan when you start up the engine. Then after you have started the engine, turn on the fan. Waallaa, cold air. This is a quirk of the SSR (maybe other GM's??).

See if you have an A/C shop in your area that installs this Welcome To ICE 32
It lowered my cabin temp as well as the operating temp of the compressor.
