Caliper Question

I have a 05 with just over 11k miles. I have been told the right front caliper is hung up and needs replacing. Probable cause for the hang up is due to sitting too much. Could this be possible and has anyone else had the issue? When driven the brake dust on that wheel is massive and the wheel heats up.

Caliper Sticking

The repair could be as simple as removing the caliper and pads and cleaning/lubricating the pins that allow the caliper to slide. Unless there is some other issue such as extreme corrosion, there should be no reason to replace the calipers on a truck with only 11K miles.

You should sent a PM to Dicktator as he's in Florida ... I'm sure he and his SSR buddies can help you.

as Snomuncher says The solution could be as simple as cleaning and lubing the mounting bolts but it also could be the pistons corroding in the brake calipers. If you are mechanical you could try remiving the calipers and pull back the dust shields and put a little brake fluid on the pistons and the bore of the caliper and then re assemble them and install and see if they work in.

PM me your shipping address and I'll send you a gently used caliper from the Parts Exchange.
