Can we remote open the tailgate somehow?

I would love to be able to pop open my tailgate without having to pop the bed cover. It would seem like an easy task, has someone here tried to make it happen?

I think the Chevy engineers should have designed it that way from the beginning. Since you must have the bed cover closed before closing the tailgate, why open it at all? Most of the time I only want to throw something in there quickly, and the extra step of popping the bed cover discourages me from doing that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

They make a universal kit to raise and lower your tailgate. It's done by a linear acuator. I'll do some searches.

I love that article Chris. Use it for an auto spoiler and SAVE GAS! That Myth was disproven the other night on MythBusters. Keeping the tailgate up actually saves you gas.

My mother-in-law keeps opening just my tailgate before I get completely stopped.

Guess I should make her knots tighter or use duck tape next trip....?

Just keep moving for about an hour. After that the oxygen supply runs out and she won't move around too much.

The "droptail" actuator looks nice, but I wonder about latch release? How you gonna do that?
