I saw on another thread that rick418cars had American Racing 5-lug Hopsters on his SSR. This is an awesome wheel, and one we were talking about doing on our 71 Vette to keep the vintage look. We would like something similar for the SSR, and all the "old school" style wheels only seem to come in 5-lug (Billet Specialties, Boyd Coddington, etc.).
How hard is it to convert to 5-lug? Also, has anyone found any nice "old school" type wheels that come in sizes that fit the SSR?
Thanks!!
Helo everyone,
You can have a good machine shop redrill your hubs and axles to any bolt pattern you want as long as you have the diameter room. Starting with a 6 lug pattern you have plenty of room. My 2 cents!

hey DAIJ, one other option is 22'' wheels on the front, and 22'' or 23'' wheels on the rear , the only problems with a 21'' wheel is trying to find a match set of tires for the front and rear, plus the cost of a 21''wheel & tire is almost double then a 22'' combo........i had a set of 22'' (front) & 23'' (rear) on my SSR, the wheels were (TEZZEN ARCHS) and i used pirelli tires (front 265X35X22'') and (rear 305X35X23'') and they worked fine .... with ground force drop springs............ as for the DUB wheels very costly and not the right offset or bolt pattern...... i hope this helps some (MOE)
hi
Thanx for telling me cause a random dealer located in LA whom I called told me that they arent familiar with the offset for the SSR but DUB offers their set for any car as long as they know the offset. I think what suits me best would be 22 in the front and 23'' in the back but only problem is where am i going to get tires for 23's? they dont have them in stock where I am from, everything has got to be ordered. I have never driven a car on 19's let alone cant imagine 23s. Your car looks real clean and amazing, I am jealous......I still havent bought mine yet
In your specs it says 'air ride' do you mean hydraulics? if so then how was the installation? any difficulties? and how low can you go. My friends dont recommend i fit it on cause sometimes it gets stuck and when that happens i wouldnt know what to do next cause no one in my area knows anything about fixing it. Also, where did you fit the air pump? thanx again.

Hey DAIJ....... you can order 23'' tires from (www.tirerack.com) or (www.1010tires.com) they have them in stock as for the suspenion i used Chassic Tech air ride, not hydraulics....the installation was very easy the kit comes with replacement front strut bags and replacement rear bags for the coil springs. i have not had any problems, and i enjoy the ride very much i installed the air compressors behind the rear bumper, and used a 3 & 5 gallon air tanks, with about 150 (psi) in the system, with about 8'' on suspenion travel...the way it is set up if i blew a line or a bag i can still drive it a the lowest point (zero air pressure) i hope this will help if you have anymore questions i will be glad to help

Reason: adding pictures
I went with a 20" set of foose speedsters... i used the 295's in the rear and 255/35/20 in the front... i found a matched set of goodyear eagle gsc in both sizes...
the 255's in the front is the same rolling diameter as the stock 19's

If you want the same size wheels as stock you might want to visit the Intro Wheels web site. They have two good looking wheels, Pentia 6 and Moreno 6. They gave me a price of $2,400.00 for 2-19" and 2-20". If you want some 20" and 22" Billet Specialities wheels I have a used set posted here for 1/2 price with tires.

HI coloradossr,
I liked those wheels... do you find that the ride suffers any? I have heard that you have to have such a very low profile tire that the ride suffers a lot.
Also what was that on the side front fender of your red SSR? It looks like an emblem... ?
My wheel obsession has led me all over (kinda krazy kuz I havn't purchased my ssR yet! but I fill the void how I can...)Colorado Custom is the only company I have found that has 19 and 20 sizes with lots of choices- even retro and classic. They seem reasonably priced.
Another answer to the question may be 20 and 20. Centerline wheels offers the California series 20" at 159$. They would need to be modified to the proper width and offset. Pistons #1 fan posted a website for Weldcraft Wheel. They will widen a 20" wheel for 200$. This combo is cheaper than most Wheels I have priced.
The tires I found for this combo are Goodyear Eagle HP ultraplus at Tirerack.com. 255/35/zr20's are 149$- 295/40/yr20's are 170$. The treadwear rating is higher than the stock RSA's but the ride, noise and snow performance suffer some.
One advantage for me would be mothballing the custom package in the winter for the easier to clean rims and better in the snow tires.
hmm...
hmm...

I think the ride is ok. The only thing is that the only tires I could find to fit the wheels were ultra high performance tires that are supposed to be run in summer only, I've run them all winter but not in the snow. Those emblems are '62 corvette fender emblems held on with 3M double sided tape. I also have a C5 waterfall emblem in the interior.
