Check Roof Wiring/Pictures

Everyone! When you get a chance, check for chaffing on you wiring on the cover at the hinges.

They are sometimes to tight and slide back and forth, chaffing and then shorting out. Sends message to CID, roof ajar, time out, etc.

Pictures
1. Chaffing at clip
2. Chaffed wire
3. Slide wire out of clip to repair
4. Repair and tape
5. Tape and put back in clip, make sure there is enough slack in the wire.

Do you add wire to allow more slack?

Here an old thread (2005) that worth reading. It about the proper routing and un-twisting, etc... Several good pictures as well.

Careful about adding wire, you can then create a problem of the extra wire "Rubbing" on the roof paint when opening and closing.

Some SSR's have had the problem of the wire rubbing on the roof and had to re-route the wire.

Like Run Rod Run said, check out the other information about routing.
