Question Cleaning Glass w/Chrome Polish?

I read somewhere years ago that one of the tricks of the car show crowd was to clean the glass w/chrome polish. Makes sense as it certainly won't streak chrome. Has anyone tried or heard of this? Wondering how it would be on a street rod.

Yep, it works since it has a very mild abrasive in it. I've used Simichrome on my windshield before. As I said, it works good, but it is a rather expensive way to clean one's windshield. I only use it occasionally on real stubborn water spots/etching.

By the way, I also heard that toothpaste is a cheaper way to go.

So how do you use the toothpaste? Do you let it dry to a haze, or just polish it off wet?

It also works on plexi, polycarbonate, eye glasses (plastic in particular), head lite lens(cover), as it is not as aggressively abrasive as the cleaners and polishes. The test is to rub some between your fingers and feel for the "grit", the least, the BETTER for polishing. It doesn't really take the scratches out, but blends the hard edge so that it isn't so noticeable.
Perfect fix? NO
Quick remedy? OK
It's still there, you just don't notice it so quickly. Just don't obsess over it and it will be OK......

Way back when, and still do sometimes, use newsprint, nice and wet, then buff dry. I buy cheap rolls, $10 bucks for a 25 pound roll. A roll lasts for years.
