I am having the flame job repaired from the damage the ssr recieved on the way to lauflin in a bad snow storm. we were about a mile back from the salt and sand truck, It didnt look like sand to me more like rock. It help us get there safe but the truck got alot of rock chips. It is getting repainted next week. my question is should I have the clear bra pre cut pieces put on or use raw material ? I dont have any cars with clear bra so I dont know what to look for as future problems. all comments welcome. thanks dean!

I like mine, and will be getting some new pieces for replacement after the new paint is completely dry, which takes 90 days. Until then I suggest you run with a leath bra in place. of course you should not cover the paint with anything for at least a couple of weeks, then the leather bra is sufficient. Aftger 90 days get the 3-M brand of clear bra. I think Ghostrider sells it, but I know Auto Trim Design does. What I like about them is they don't cut out the pieces needed until you order them, making them fresh for usage.

I had 3M put on my SSR and it was really bad, so I had the same guy come out and replace all of it. The was worse the second time. I called 3M and they said we will do what ever it takes to make it right. They sent a new guy out to the house and he laught at the way it looked. He replaced the entire kit again and said they just came out with a gen 4 product. I could tell right away it was much clearer and went on very easy. I'm a happy camper with it now and it does make a difference with the chipping. Would I do it again ????

This their anyway of knowing that I'm getting a Gen 4 product if I were to get a clear bra?

I had a pro do it - downloads the cutting directions to a cad type cutter and cuts them on the spot. My first efforts did turn milky. 3M stood behind and replaced it with their upgraded product with the clear coat on the upside. I don't think you can even buy the old stuff. I'd definitely do it again.

thanks, I spent 3700.00 for the first paint and who knows how much this time I need to protect it!
When expertly applied the clear bra is excellent. I have it on the front of my rear fenders in place of the factory fender protectors. Not a chip after many miles. I have seen it on 1/4 million buck exotics. It's totally removable when desired.
I have been installing a film called ClearMask for 4 years now. I have tried many of the films on the market today and think ClearMask is the best I have seen. It has a nice clear finish without any orange peel to it and comes with a lifetime warranty. I don’t believe 3M ScotchGuard is very good because it does have a lot of orange peel to it... and difficult to install. VentureShield is the only other film I will touch... and that’s only to do full hood wraps (I can get it in 58" widths).
If you have any questions or need any help with anything feel free to PM me. I will be more than happy to help you out.

could this be the VentureShield he referred to in his post?
Yes Venture is the same as VentureShield. I use it when I am doing full hood wraps because it comes in 58" widths. Its a good film. I still prefer ClearMask for many reasons but VentureShield is definitely the next best film out there. Just out of curiousity, how much did he quote you for the install?

anyone know how long to wait before installing clear bra on fresh paint? it was cut and buffed today.
You need to find out if they baked the panels. If not then I recommend 30 days before installing. They did clear coat over the flames didnt they? I had to turn down a custom Harley this weekend because they had a guy airbrush a custom job and it didnt have any clear coat over it. I still dont understand why they didnt.
Interesting points...I had the 3m clear Bra put on about 2 years ago and it was disappointing because the installer, Appearance plus, did a poor job. I use the cloth bra when the love bugs get bad and of course Rejex polish which helps for the bugs and brake dust.
