So, its been a few months since we really used the SSR (other than starting it and backing it into the garage). Last time we tried to drop the top, it went almost all the way but towards the end when it goes into the bed, or, well, in front of the bed, there was a problem. It wouldnt go all the way. Any idea's as to what it could be? someone else experience that problem? My father and i never had a chance to try and find out exactly what it was but if someone else has experienced a similar situation it would make my life a lot easier. Trying to fix it up as sort of a surprise to him (he bought it as a present for himself because he hasnt bought himself a car since the corvette he got in the early 90's, which he traded in for a car for my mom :/)... and of course so i have a 2nd nice truck to ride around in XD. Anyhow, if anyone has a clue, please share.
Did you get any errors on the DIC (dash cluster info display)? Mine acts the same way when I haven't driven it for a while. I get a "roof cycle timeout" error at about 3/4 open. Dealer looked at it once and said it was a leak down problem in the hydraulics. Said they fixed it, but still acts the same way if it has sat for a long time. If you are getting this error, just wait a second and push the top open switch again. If you are getting any noise or binding, you need to inspect the roof storage bay.
I would check wiring harness first, latching relays second and then pull the 30amp relays in the fuse panel behind the passengers seat.
Fuse panel behind passenger seat, top left, two relays, 30 amp. One for UP and one for DOWN. Remove and clean contacts and replace. (See manul or Fuse door panel for location)
1. Check wire harness to see if it is chaffed. Roof will open/close until it hits bad spot and short out i.e. stop.
2. Remove from clip, tape and replace. If wore bad us connectors.
3. Roof Latch, 4 bolts, 10mm, remove
4. Remove and carefully turn over.
5. Lubricate miroswitch with WD and make sure switch is working.
My SSR: 04 Redline w/Lambo Doors ++, and 2005 Bk 6-Speed
From the discription you have given of the history of your SSR -- You better buy and install yourself a new battery, your problems might increase- your SSR is aprox 8 or 9 years old and hasn't been taken care of very well previously - just my 2 cents..........I have 2 new batteries installed in mine, a little tite but they fit

I plan on replacing the battery. Its dead. Anyhow, we hadnt ran the SSR because there was a problem with oil leaking. Seems to have magically disappeared, however. Still going to throw it up on a lift and take a look though.. (Yes, theres oil in the car, it didnt all leak out which is why it stopped -.-). Anyhow, because of that, the battery died. So without a doubt thats the first thing i will be replacing, since it seems like my father will never do it, haha.
Thanks for that information guy's. I'll take a look at it once i get a battery in there :P. Going to have my brother order one for me. He's got a shop so he gets a discount on interstate batteries .
