I want to remove the center console cowl around the shifter (manual). What's involved? Thanks, Frank

Same clips as the engine cover insert and grille bar.
A screwdriver and a towel. 4 clips, 1 in each corner. Pop 'em up. Torx head on the shifter knob set screw.

Pop the back two up from the sides 1st, closest to the armrest. Mine was real tight so be careful. I don't wanna hear no
when I get home later.

I'm taking the SSR in a week or two for the clutch job. I want to remove the chrome pieces myself. I trust the tech....but...but.

Hi Frank...
It's best to get new clips from GM when you re-insall the piece. The old ones NEVER fit as tight as they did prior to removal. After I fixed my "ringing shifter" noise last year, the snap-together chrome trim never fit as tightly as it did prior to removing it and as a matter of fact it's easily removable now and occasionally makes creaking noises...the first time it was taken apart it felt like it would split into 10 pieces!
So, here's my $0.02 for new clips...probably $10 each from the General!
Jeff
