Crossmember

I read all the posts on crossbars and crossmembers and decided to go the one piece 4 bolt trailblazer unit. I have to say I notice a significant difference in shake and shudder over pot holes and railroad tracks with the top down and it may be my imagination, but it feels firmer and more in control cruising on the road as well, glad I went this way...that's my two cents....

Thumbs up

Yes, there are a bunch of us who have added either a second cross bar or the Trailblazer 4-bolt unit and most agree that it does seem firmer, especially with the top down.
Nice little bolt-on that really works!

Extra Tubular single bars - sharing

There are those of us that have installed the TBSS crossmember and have a "spare" SSR crossmember available. I have two - including bolts - here at the house (one off my truck and the second off Zane Lubin's truck) that can be donated to local fanatics. I hate to see a good piece of hardware get tossed out.

If you are here in Phoenix and want to add a second SSR tubular crossbar to your "R", just reply on the thread here and I'll send you a PM with my phone number. I have no intention of shipping it anywhere..... It is absolutely not worth it.

Since it is a freebie, the forum won't care about conducting "business" on an open thread.

Regards,

Mike

Right on that one, Mike. parrotbobssr was looking for some to test, but he could buy a new one cheaper than shipping mine across country.

I agree. Just finished installation of the on piece 4 bolt trailblazer unit. With top up the usual shudder over rough spots in road is gone. I used to feel the shudder most in the steering wheel. Have not tried it with the top down yet.
It is AMAZING what a difference an inexpensive change like this makes. Thanks to all of my fellow SSR Fanatics who shared this on our forum.

Well after several months of procrastination, higher priorities, false starts, and finding the right tap, I finally got the 4 bolt crossmember installed.
Seems to tame our PA washboards some, with the top up. When the weather cuts me some slack, I'll try the top down, but so far I like it.

4 bolt TB crossmember installed and it greatly reduced freeway shudder.

Great mod.
