Dang new Problem for me....

Went by the dealer yesterday so they can look at my hood mat as they tore it the other day when it was in for the cooling fan to be repplaced. Service manager came out looked it over, told my service guy to order me a new one and then to give him the mechanics name that did the repair so he would have someone to charge it to.

Well anyway's i drive home and get there, go to open my door and can't get out. The dang windows would not Index. I rolled them down and got out but when i rolled them abck up they was sitting on the outside of the weather strip. Both sides quit. Well with the tropical storm coming and I know rain is on the way I drove back to the dealer. They took it around back and in about 15 minutes brought it back and everything was working again.

Anyone else have this problem?

My O My! you have some bad karma going on with that SSR Steve. I think you've had every problem listed but the broken door handle.

Boosted, there was a thread earlier about that, and the process needed to re-index the windows. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I think it was a matter of clearing a trouble code. Not sure what had caused the trouble code initially.

Had a similar situation when my top closed up without a foot on the brake or touching the top up button. It totally quit after that, but went back to normal operation when they cleared a trouble code.

Seems strange that they would have torn your hood mat unless they did the big "No No", not putting the prop rod in its proper place. Probably slipped, the hood closed, and your prop rod did the ripping!!!

Almost any time you disconnect the battery, which the dealer probably did to work on your fan assembly, you have to re-index the windows. This is done by rolling both windows fully down, holding the power switch for a couple of seconds after the window has bottomed out. Then merely run both windows fully up and they should be re-indexed. I had the same experience a while back but the dealer told me how to resolve it.

FYI: Chapter 9 in Jim Gnitecki's book covers this as one of the SSR Quirks!

Had the problem a while back, only sure cure is replacing the door lock switch. While they're fixing the door handle, make them replace the door lock switch.

A ripped hood mat usually signifies a bent prop rod which should be replaced. Once bent, never as strong again.
