My SSR: 2005 Slingshot Auto and 2005 Slingshot 6 speed
The dash is fairly easy to remove except for the portion around the air bag.
Do a search on here for "dash removal". You will find pics and instructions have been posted before.

I was in Buckalew Chevrolet. Conroe. today and I over heard one of the techs tell the sales rep. that the owner should be informed that the "cluster" needs to be replaced. It would take four hundred dollars and five hours. I tried to find the owner, for what reason I don't know, but could not locate him/her. Should have asked the tech.
Hi does anybody has a manual or some pictures available to remove the dashboard? Tx in advance. Burkhard Bechtel, Cologne, Germany
Check the Library under Xm/Serius and there are easy Pics and Instructions to follow. Make sure you remove the proper Fuses before you remove the Facia.
You will need to be in a warm garage to remove the facia from the Air Bag.
It needs to be warm so the Air Bag Lip will Bend.
If not you will need to remove the Air Bag. The toughest part is getting to the Screws that are located in the Back of the Facia. Some Folks are not putting these Screws back in when they replace the Air Bag.
Hot or cold, the dash can be removed with the airbag still in place.
Getting it back on is the hard part but it can be done.
Some members have trim back or remove the lip along the edge so that it would slip over the airbag without much of a struggle when putting it back together.
The attach photo shows you the area that can be trimmed.

I started to attempt the "pull the dash over the airbag" method and gave up when I discovered how much I had to deform the dash and airbag face to get it out.
There are two bolts that hold the airbag in from below and two nuts on the airbag studs that face forward. I removed the two bolts and re-installed them when finished. The two nuts on the forward (well hidden) side of the airbag that go on the studs coming through the back wall of the airbag compartment should never have been installed. They are almost impossible to see and, when removed, should be put in the spare hardware bin. Those two nits hold the airbag IN the bucket of the dash...... think about it..... when the bag goes off, it is shoved further into the dash.... The nuts on the studs do nothing.
Total time for airbag removal is about 40 minutes. Most of the time will be spent finding the right combination of extensions and universal joints to get the socket onto the two nuts......
My two cents....
Mike

Actually Mike all you have to do is tuck the Left Side of the Air Bag behind the Facia. Then all you have to do is Slide the Facia towards the passenger Door and the Right side is unseated easy. Then all you have to do is reverse the way you put the Facia back.

I looked at the pictures that had been posted about bending the Air Bag Cover and pulling the Dash over the Air Bag and was not comfortable doing that. I suspect that it would be a real challenge to find a replacement Cover if something went wrong and I could not stand to have a bend or blemish on the dash.
I talked to Mike, he told me where the 2 nuts were on the back of the Air Bag and the 2 studs on the bottom. Using Mike's advise about getting a 12 inch "flexible extension" and using it and a 6" extension, it took me about 20 minutes to pull the Air Bag and radio the first time.
I am really glad I did it that way, leaving the nuts off the back of the Air Bag, because I thought the GM-1 that I had purchased would not work because the instructions that came with it did not show the proper way to install. I put the radio and dash back in. The next day I pulled it out again because I learned here on the Forum how to install using the "T" harness that came with the radio. It took about 15 minutes the pull the second time. The only extra steps the second time are pulling the glovebox , reaching up with a 10mm socket to pull the 2 studs on the Air Bag and disconnecting the wire connector to the Air Bag.

Tx to everybody giving me help and advice to remove the dashboard and the facia. It worked very well and we've needed 4 hrs to remove everything.
But there ist still one minor problem with the passenger airbag. I've found the nuts on the back of the airbag easily but I couldn't remove it. There must some more points where the airbag is fixed. Has anybody an idea and can give me help?
If you have the nuts out from the back of the Air Bag you have the hard part over. Look up in the area where you removed the Glove Box. There is a brace(about 1 1/2 square) running across the area. There are two holes in the Brace. Use a 10mm socket and 6" extension to remove the 2 studs in the holes. Pull the Air Bag partially out. Look in area where the Air Bag was. On the left side, just to the left of where the Air Bag was is a yellow connector on the end of the wire connected to the Air Bag. Disconnect and remove Air Bag. When you re-install, leave the two nuts from the back off and only install the two studs from the bottom
Let me know if this dosen't do it and I will remove my glove box and take pictures. Don't forget that you have to cut the plastic in the back to clear the area for the xm/sirus harness connector so that the radio will slide in.

Once again thanks to everybody giving me help and advice. But I need support again please. We are still working to remove the passenger airbag. To find the two nuts on the bottom of the airbag (Glove box) was very easy, but we don't find the others where it is fixed.
I took some photos with my cell phone from different angles. Perhaps somebody can give me another help and mark the fixpoint in the photos. Please find the photos attached.
Sit in the passenger seat. Look at the airbag cover. On a horizontal centerline of the airbag, put your finger 1 1/2" from the left side and then the right side. The two nuts you have to remove are directly on the front (vehicle front) side of the airbag. You will have to locate them by feel. I removed them by coming in from the bottom, near the front firewall. For left nut, I used a 10mm socket, 12" flexible extension, 6" extension, rachet. This setup let me keep the rachet in the open (almost horizontal). You have to guide the socket to the nut by feel. For the right nut I used the 10mm socket, 12" flexible extenison, rachet. You have to be patient, but it is not that hard. When reinstalling do not put these two nuts back on. Very easy to pull the airbag in the future this way.
