Dead Optima Battery NEED TECH DATA

Left my car for two weeks and the Optima is so dead it will not take a charge it is only two years old. My inquiry what is causing the Battery Drain. I have heard ignition switch can be the culprit of course the dealer never heard of the ignition switch cuasing any battery drain problems. I there ANY technical data available that I can show the service writer? I should mention the SSR will not take a jump AAA came jumped it the SSR started then would not restart I tried jumping for my other 2007 car no good?

I always buy the Duralast Gold from Autozone. Its a great hot weather battery. 3year full replacement and 8 year prorated. I use it in all my vehicles including the diesel motorhome. Supposedly engineered for the hot southwest desert.

I'm afraid I posted just a few months back how the SSR and many other recent hi-tech cars and trucks cannot be left unattended for more than maybe a week without battery drainage being a distinct possibility.

Apparently, some of the computerized systems we have grown to count on continue using power at low levels even when the vehicle is shut down and parked. This is why many airports now have "battery maintenance" services that keep the batteries alive during lengthy owner trips. No kidding.

In addition, the SSR has a few items, especially the electric retractable roof, that represent major power drains that can weaken the battery under some circumstances. For example, if you park the SSR, raise the roof just before parking it, and then leave it for a couple of weeks, I'd expect trouble.

Unfortunately, the only cure for this is overreaction like I have done: build a very simple truck (SLURP) with virtually no power equipment on it.

I suggest checking the Consumer Report magazine latest write up on battery ratings before buying any battery. Different models and capabilities change frequently - and buy for your zone.
