Defect with panel in door???

I noticed the paneling in my passenger door below the handle is coming loose. Instead of being smooth and tight to the door, it almost aopears warped, kinda bumpy.... I mentioned this at WDC and a fanatic said she had heard of it before. That it has been mentioned many times.

Does anyone else know what I'm talking about, or has had the same problem? I assume something like this isn't covered under warranty

Any ideas or suggestions about the best way to get this taken care of?

I know exactly what your talking about.... Mine went to the dealer yesterday, and they have ordered a new door panel. So, Yes, it's covered by warrenty. It's like the leather has come loose from the foam and mine now looks wrinkled and is loose from the foam. .........But Dennis said he'd call when it came in.

So it is covered under the manufacturer warranty? I bought my truck june 25, and it is still under original warranty until feb 2008.

I didn't think that the door panel would be covered, i thought that would be considered "cosmetic".

Ok, you fanatics out there..... what dealership should I take it to? I am in the Lansing Mi area, and I refuse to do business w/ Shaheen Chevrolet after they tried to rip me off!!!

I want my baby to go to the best, so I am open to suggestions.

And by the way, what year is your SSR? Mines an '04
wondering if this is so common why it wasn't a recall?

I had the Vinyl separate from the panel on the drivers side and it was covered under warranty since mine was an 03 thay went ahead and replaced both drivers and pasenger under warranty since they could only get panels for the 05/ 06 models

Serious safety issues prompt recalls, not cosmetic problems.

I just noticed the same problem on my 04 yesterday. I'd love to have the dealer replace my panels with 05 or 06. They have the clearance design to allow you to get at the side seat buttons when the door is closed. I'm calling my dealer today.

I took mine to a Chevy dealer today and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I'll tell ya.... really made me feel confident about doing business with them ( Please note the heavy sarcasm.........)

They are going to put in an order request from GM, and said "give them a couple days" to see if GM can get the part. I explained that my fellow fanatics in the SSR club had told me this might be an issue w/ the '04 and that they may possibly have to replace both panels w/ '05 or '06 so they match. Then he really looked at me as if I had lost my mind and said he would get back to me.
But......... if GM can't get the part they have an excellent trim shop who could probably repair it for me, good as new.

WHAT IS UP W/ THAT??????????

I am confident that you guys know more what your talking about then this service guy who doesnt deal with the "R's" they way we do.

I bet sometime next week, he'll see that I'm right and GM will send the panel(s) for me!

I'll keep ya posted!

Mine is doing the same thing - Dealer has the panels on order for me. He never batted an eye, just said, "we'll get them ordered for you".

That's why "you don't mess with texas"!!!!!
I'll cut him a little slack and assume he didn't know any better. But if I get the call tot ake it to their "excellent trim shop" I will know it's time to find a new dealership

Mine have been on order for a while, so I don't think they in plentiful stock at the moment. Since it isn't a safety issue, I don't mind waiting even though my warranty is almost up. They have it down as a warranty issue, so no problem there.

You know you could have them take it to the trim shop and change the color from black to purple....

You know, I didn't think of that.... what a good idea!
Although I am sure that wouldn't be included in my warranty
I will have to consider it though

My Baby Is Fixed!!!

Well my baby went to the dr's today ( dealership) and we are happy to report she is good as new. They replaced the door panel. Unfortunately they were able to get a '04 door panel from GM, so I didn't get to have both sides replaced with the '05/'06 redesigned panels so you can reach the buttons with the door closed.

But i guess we won't complain ( too much) LOL

I went to the dealership last week, and they fixed it one week later.

I'd have to say I'm pretty satisfied, I know some of you have been waiting for awhile for your parts.... not sure how I got so lucky.

Again, not complaining. Thanks to all who let me know this was covered under warranty!!!
