diablo predator HP tune and PING

Installed the HP tune in my 06 today and noticed a very audible PING under heavy acceleration. I have alway run Chevron 93 since day one.

I just installed the 91 octane tune but have not had time to try it.

Is it more effective to due to 91 tune or 10% retard on the HP tune?

Well,,,just took her for a spin,,,no ping,,,still seems to be a noticeable increase in power with the 91 octane tune.

Anyone know what parameters are changed from HP to 91 tune,,,like more retard and more fuel?

I guess it is working OK,,,,,,just having a code scanner and a real time data display is worth the money.

I did a best offer on ebay and got it shipped for $300,, NEW,

It shipped with the factory invoice and it showed $235!!!!!! so you see the profit these guys are making.

It wouldn't be more fuel, It would be in the spark control, Would set your main spark adavce high octane, If it knocked it would drop to your low octane setting, Low octane not good but worse is that little man in your engine with a big hammer knocking away

gsp, when you changed to 91 tune, did you have to restore to oem backup first????

From what I learned from Joe at the tech session here in Las Vegas is that the computer will retard the timing so that the engine will not strain itself. This happens when you put a lower grade of fuel int the SSR. The only way to reset the computer is to pull a fuse out of the engine bay and wait five minutes. The computer in your SSR set itself so that it will not KNOCK.

I agree with SilverWolf. Your computer probably simply dialed in some retard until the knocking stopped reliably.

You should try to find out why it knocked in the first place on 93 octane fuel. Is your SSR stock other than the microtune?
