Diablo Sport Micro Programmer Problems

I have a 2004 SSR automatic which I have used the Superchips Micro Programmer with great results. After seeing all the positive reviews of the Diablo Sport on this board, I decided to try it. I received it yesterday and when through all the de-installs with the Superchips and installation of the Diablo Performance mode. I am using 100 octane. First run, the SSR will barely move off the line. WOT takeoff is like the old 4 cylinder vehicle. Tried to powerbrake it and it will only go 1500 rpm. When you let off, it takes off like it is pulling an anchor. I made runs with the TC off and its the same. I turned off the Torque Mgt and still nothing. In fact, it will not spin the wheels on a wet payment with TC off. I restored it back to factory, and the performance is a lot better than the Diablo. I reinstalled the Superchips and wow what performance. I spoke with a tech rep at Diablo and they are at a loss . Any suggestions before I return the Diablo

Diablo Sport Micro Programmer Problems

Sounds like you have a defective unit. I have one for my 03 and it certainly makes a change for the positive.

A side note is I was looking on their site last week and noticed they have two different models listed for the 03-04 a U7195 and a U7193. I have the U7193. Which do you have? Not sure if this could be the problem.

I used the Predator on our '06 auto and found that the car had slightly more pep and vitality. Just be sure to carefully follow the procedure.

Apparently, the unit that I have is defective. The vendor wants me to send the unit back (under warranty) to DiabloSport with my factory tune so that they can reprogram the unit. I am not going to VIN lock my SSR and send them my program. What happen if they screw it up?,,,,or I need to have the SSR in the dealer for repairs. The Vendor said my only other option is to return the programmer and they will refund my money less a 20% restocking fee. Both options are unacceptable to me. They refuse to send me a repacement. I guess they have never heard of a "Charge Back" with the credit card company. I just think this is poor customer service. I expect to have a product that works as they state. I do not have time to assist them in troubleshooting their problems. Am I being unreasonable on this?

aThorpe: I think your stance is very wise. I would not lock my vehicle to a defective tuner. There is no assurance they can fix this problem, as some SSRs have proven to simply not work with some specific microtuners. No one has yet explained why.

I would personally rather take the 20% retocking hit than go down an unpredictable road.

When i loaded the tunes in my 06, the damn head lights came on during the "write process". I had the e-brake up in the beginning to keep the lights off.

Did this happen to you? Could it have affected the write process?

My headlights came on too but I didn't notice any problems. I think the results are good.

The "headlights on" phenomenum will occur whether you are using a microtuner or tuning software, but can be eliminated, at least on my own SSR, by doing the following:

- Put handbrake on
- Turn ignition key "on"
- Disengage handbrake
- Lift handbrake to "on" position
- Release handbrake
- Begin programming process

The lights SHOULD stay off.

It is not ESSENTIAL that the lights be prevented from coming on, but desirable. Any load on the battery, and any potential signals through the PCM, at the time of programming, are undesirable.

Why should I pay a restocking of $64.00 for a defective programmer. All I'm asking them is to send me another programmer and see if the same issues are there. DiabloSport represents that their programmer is compatable with the SSR 5.3L engine. If not, they should put a warning or disclaimer on the product. I bought the product from Klasse (Concoursdirect.com). I should not be losing money on their product or be Beta for them.

Your truck has had the diablosport programmer on it before and has worked perfect, I should know this as it was my truck and I put one on it.. Contact Diablosport themselves.. There is no beta testing for this programmer...

A question athorpe

Which unit do you have as the U7195 is not the correct unit although as I stated earlier both units are listed for the 03-04 SSR.

Another question is who are you dealing with on this, Concoursedirect or Diablo?

If its Concoursedirect I would call Diablo and deal with them. When I had to send my unit in they wanted my stock reading in my car, not in the unit. I have always found them easy to deal with.

Stick with it, it'll work out and the change in the SSR is worth it.

I have the U7193. I'm dealing with DiabloSport directly now. They are having me send the unit to them for inspection. They said that there may be a software issue with version 2.07. Dealing with Concoursedirect is worthless - they seem to be small operation with zero customer satifaction.
