Exclamation Do I have it covered?

I'm taking my SSR in before my warranty expires on 12/18/2006. Here's my list for them. Any input or additional comments would be appreciated to give me a heads up with the dealer. Thanks.

2003 SSR:

Tink coming from driveshaft when placed into gear.

Top window molding on passenger side keeps tucking under window.

Rattle coming from behind dash when moving slowly & accelerating (a fluttering).

Front suspension “creaking”/”squeaking.”

Inside rear roof panel above rear window coming loose. Rattles.

Passenger door vibrates & rattles when radio is on.

Radio loses signal at times. Check connection.

Radio lowers & dims significantly when the top is being put up or down.

Please align headlights.

Trunk lid does not open all the way when unlocked.

Fog lamps shake easily. Needs to be tightened.

When taking a right hand turn at about 35 to 45 degrees, there is a high pitched squeak.

Cooling fan does not work all the time. Tends to overheat.

Front air dam came off. I have the part.

All roof linkage & clamping parts need to be lubed. Lots of rattling.

Arm rest rattles a lot.

Weather stripping on the inside passenger door is coming loose.

Driveshaft TSB....

Refer to "PIP3420B" dated 10-25-05
Document ID: 1717272
Covers '03-'06 SSR

This should direct them to install Driveshaft P/N 15247556

Good Luck,

Mike

The radio volume cutting in half when putting the top up or down is normal. That's the "auto volume" control taking effect. It's not the same as the "old" auto volume that increased the volume as the speed increased.

Not sure that you can do anything with this from a dealer's perspective. It's not the lamp itself that's loose, it's the entire front facia that shakes with the bumps.

My molding has been replaced without causing leaks but same thing happened over again...it is a window adjustment that needs to be done and even when that happens you still may have occasional rollover...other Fanatics have found ways to stop this with 'home remedies'.

This will get worse in cold weather especially if you have carpet kit in rear...check into having LST retrofit struts in the back...every one who has loves it...or...have pressure changed in struts to the cover will come up. Personally, I don't mind this aspect but may do the change eventually.

Everyone has the shaking fog lamps...the front fascia shakes and causes that...check into the StabiliSSR for front and rear...inexpensive and works!

Also...regarding your cooling fan...if can't be repaired/replaced to your satisfaction check the forum for either Jim G's or Mike in Az's replacement fans...this is the way I am going to go soon.

Good luck with the fix-its!

And you might want to look at buying the extended warranty but ONLY the GM one. There are several threads on dealers that offer the best prices.

Dealer should be able to fix all the problems...

2003 SSR:

Tink coming from driveshaft when placed into gear. Common issue with many trucks not only the SSR, may be able to order a new prop-shaft.

Top window molding on passenger side keeps tucking under window. You need to have the windows reprogrammed a simple fix

Rattle coming from behind dash when moving slowly & accelerating (a fluttering). possible loose connection(s) ??

Front suspension “creaking”/”squeaking.” ??? dealer needs to check out

Inside rear roof panel above rear window coming loose. Rattles. Dealer should be able to adjust or reattach the panel

Passenger door vibrates & rattles when radio is on. Speaker may need to be fixed or replaced

Radio loses signal at times. Check connection. check windshield the antenna might have been scraped or broken by the dealer prep person when taking off the window stickers

Radio lowers & dims significantly when the top is being put up or down. That is common, happens to all SSRs during roof movement... might be so you pay more attention to what is going on?

Please align headlights. a normal adjustment by dealer

Trunk lid does not open all the way when unlocked. If you have the carpeted trunk you will find that most SSRs will not open more than an inch.

Fog lamps shake easily. Needs to be tightened. Normal due to front fascia is not rigid, there is a bracket that is available after market that works wonders

When taking a right hand turn at about 35 to 45 degrees, there is a high pitched squeak. Could be your power steering belt may need adjustment or replacement

Cooling fan does not work all the time. Tends to overheat. SSRs can handle high temps... however you may need a fan replacement, there are after market solutions if you prefer to get one.. Mike in Az has a great solution.

Front air dam came off. I have the part. You or someone else probably hit a high curb that caused the plastic rivets to break off. The correct design is for it to break off easily when it hits something and not cause further damage.

All roof linkage & clamping parts need to be lubed. Lots of rattling. a few adjustments can be easily made to correct that problem... the roof stops, probably need adjustments.

Arm rest rattles a lot. dealer should be able to fix that issue

Weather stripping on the inside passenger door is coming loose. The dealer can reattach it or replace the weather stripping if necessary.
I believe all of your issues can be very easily corrected, even if it may take a couple of visits to be able to get all the parts in.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

I find it best never to go to a dealer with such a HUGE service list. Its best to break it up into 3 visits.

Thanks everyone. Great input! Even if they don't fix a thing, it's still the best vehicle I've ever owned.

The window needs an in-out adjustment for fixing the rolled over weatherstrip. Replacing the weatherstrip will not fix this problem.

Roof mechanism rattles can usually be fixed by adjusting the upstops.

There are threads on this forum for both of these items.
