The sun has finally come back and my sits at the GM Dealership. I am not a happy camper. This is what they gave me to drive until they fix my
I went to the dealer with a written list of warranty repairs, which included the clutch sticking at 6000 rpm. The service manager was there and assured me he would take good care of my I told them verballly and in writing not to take the transmission apart until they have parts. Left it for them to get the clutch build date only to come back to find the transmission is out and parts are a week away, (or so they say).
The dealer called the rental agency and agreed to get me a vehicle. 20 minutes later I had a 3/4 ton HD Diesel long box pickup. Given my wife was waiting for me to join her for lunch, (leaving your wife alone in a restaurant is not good for the marriage) I took it.
Yesterday they heard my complaint about the tank they gave me and promised to find me something more comparable to drive. Yesterday they were trying to find a Cadillac STS and today are offering a Cobalt or Colorado. I am getting nowhere with the manager and getting the empty promises. I guess my next step is to complain to GM Canada, (not that they will care)
I wasn't going to rant, as it seemed like they were going to atone for not calling me before incapacitaing my . This has been a great forum for getting information so you are prepared when going to the dealer. Very disappointing when they don't listen to you.
My SSR: 2004 Ultra Violet #11012 born on 04 June 2004
The last time I had to leave the I was taken over to Enterprise for a rental...dealership paying...Enterprise says they can ONLY give me a GM product if they're paying...a Cobalt is what they had didn't do any good complaining as I did every day...after day 3 I called my brother in law and had him deliver a new vehicle to me...it wasn't a GM product, so now I don't need to take their dang loaners/rentals..................................really ticks me off when you take a $50,000 vehicle in for repair and they give you something worth about a $1
Otherwise, my dealership treats me well and my service writer and service manager are great guys...that's what keeps me going to the same one
Southern California is a long way to go for good service, but would be a fun drive
The GM warranty only covers $40/day for rental, so I understand I won't get a comparable car if it goes in for warranty work. What makes me mad is the dealer was told not to take it apart, (as I would have scheduled the work when the weather wasn't so nice). I may even considered paying to have them order both clutches, as I am sure I could find someone on this forum that will need the other one.
My SSR: 06/6sd Sil on Blk-2SS, Chrome pack,Magnaflow. #23284
I received a Grand Prix from Enterprise with that stinken odor that rentals have.
Same story with my clutch. 1-2 day job to replace clutch took 29 days. Service manager called me daily...said part should be in tomorrow.
Good luck with yours...hope it gets fixed quickly

I can almost understand your complaining if they had given you a Colbalt or an Avio but they gave you a top of the line GM truck.
Also I'm curious how the dealer could order parts to fix without taking it apart?
I guess i dont understand all the ranting about receiving a rental vehicle when the principal vehicle is in the shop. For a LONG time, dealerships didnt give out replacement cars when you took yours in for repair. By insisting on a "free" rental your helping to inflate the repair prices we all end up paying in some form or fashion. My dealer gives me a ride home where i pick up my other vehicle for running errands, etc and then will pick me up and take me back to the dealership when my SSR is repaired.
Also, why do you feel you have the "right" to set limits and rules on when and how your vehicle is repaired? Theyre running a business for profit and have employees that need to be kept busy and productive and when you tell them to "just evaluate it and then store it for me until the parts come in" your SSR is taking up space that should be used for a vehicle that is producing revenue by being worked on.
Some of us here on the site should try to be more understanding of the dealerships efforts and responsibilities toward its customers instead of ranting on like a spoiled child who wants his toy fixed -NOW!

The service writer thought they could. When he found out they couldn't, he had instructions to call me and he didn't. I even called to confirm and the service department said it was ready to pick up. I guess they thought I planned to push it.
You are right, it is a top of the line truck, but it is still a tank to drive and god forbid parallel park.

You make some good points, and based on some comments from other fanatics, your last point has some validity. I am not one to rant, but admit I am fanatical about my
I may have over reacted, but it was the dealer who wanted to bring it in and confirm the part numbers. He said he could do it without taking it apart. The original plan was to bring the in next week when I could make other arrangements and could live without the Now they have a they need to store and, as you say take up space that should be used to service other vehicles. They also have a customer who was misled.

My other truck is a real truck, 2500HD Turbo Diesel Crew Cab 4X4. Runs mid to high 14's with a little computor re-programming . You don't parrallel park, you push the other little cars out of your way!

Geez and I thought Corvette owners were picky. I fail to see how any dealer could order parts with out first discovering what is actually wrong with the vehicle.
Good luck with the repairs and be thankful that they gave you a vehicle to drive even if it's not what you expected.

Message for Tug Boat: Do you want your SSR fixed or not???? You placed too many demands and instructions on the dealer. I'm old dealer rat, been there and done that. I took our Vette to dealer on Wed. with check engine light on. Found bad air system check valve. Didn't have one. They put me in a Enterprise Colbalt and I went home. Next day around noon dealer called, Vette was done. Wife drove the Colbalt back to dealer and picked up her Vette. End of story. No problem, car fixed. Simple and easy! Maybe you should sit back and let them do there job.
