Door Locks

Is there a way to defeat the automatic door locks? To my wife it's a pain for her to wait till I get the car in park, she will pull the door handle before I get it in park and have to press the lock/unlock button.

Same problem here - I like to get out of the car before hubby pulls in to the garage, but it's such a pain. I hope there is a way to bypass it!

I belive it is in the programing from the buttons on the steering wheel.
You can defeat the automatic door locks.
should be in the owners manual.

I'd be nice if you could program them to automatically unlock at speeds under 8MPH.

Thank's Doc, but this only tells me how it will lock and unlock the doors. I don't want the doors to lock ever unless I want to lock them.
I have the thought that I might cut the wire to the passenger door lock and and run a wire from the console switch. But that would create another problem, I couldn't use the key fob to lock the door. Then I thought about splicing into the drivers door and tap off that switch a wire to the passengers door but I would be back to square one.
I just don't want the doors to lock unless I press the button on the fob.

Just looked at my truck, you are correct, can control the unlocking but not the automatic locking. The options on unlocking are only manual and key out.

I would buy that, but that dosent seem to be an option. You can program the locking to lock at or above 8 MPH but to unlock we are SOL.

I must be missing something, blbrownssr.

My "unlock" button is on the center console . . . it functions immediately after the "auto lock" feature locks the doors.

Rather than lose the convenience related to the Key Fob, why not just hit the unlock button as soon as the auto lock kicks in?

Also, the security afforded by the auto lock feature may come in handy on of these days.

Good Luck,

Curt

you can defeat the auto locking by following the proceedure outlined on page 11-91 in the service manual..if you don't have the 2 volume manual the instructions were detailed in an earlier post that can be accesed by searching..."power door locks-auto cancel",,,it is detailed in post 14 of that thread by joel...i have done this on my 04,,,you have to do it seperately for both remotes if you wish it to work with both,,

Here was the post:

Power Door Lock-Auto Cancel

auto lock dead-rip

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Successfully canceled auto locking on 2004. To paraphrase: 1. ignition off, hold t/s lever all the way toward u and turn key from off to runto off twice. release t/s lever. (you will hear beeps and/or cycling of door locks. The above step needs to be done fairly briskly relative to key off-on-off.) 2. Press the lock side of the interior lock switch twice. (this step must be done within 30 second of the first step) VOILA details on page 11-91 of 2004 shop manual.

(t/s is turn signal)

Programmed mine this morning

Great info. My wife and I hated the auto-lock feature. This feature should have been an option in the owners manual. Programmed my truck this morning. Works like a charm. Thanks!
