Door Check Link/Pictures

Our famous "Door Click" fix.

Section 8-356 of my 04 manual shows very little on this "Door Check Link Assembly".

I took pictures for our Library of fixes, in this case I replaced the bad Link.

Dicktator

Remove door panel, pull back plastic protection to access hole.

1. Remove 10mm bolt
2. Remove rubber water/dust cover
3. Remove 10mm nuts
4. Ratchet Removes nuts easily
5. Reach in door access hole and remove Door Link Assembly.

Old Link repair, kinda.

1. Ground head off small end of pin.
2. Had to drill pin.
3. Punched out pin.
4. Pin is shoulder type with flat spot on small portion of pin to stop pin from turning. ( I don't know why)
5. Unassembled Door Check Link.

Have not figured out repair yet. Because the small locking part of the pin does not turn, the upper hole on the bracket wears, elongating the hole. THUS "CLICK, CLICK".

I will post pictures if and when I get a fix for this.

I understand that Honda uses the same door check. I am trying to cross that today.

I have not spent time on the fix of the old one. Between, new rims, lowering my R, H.I.D Headlight System having my seats done, having spent any time looking for a fix.

Door Stop “Click” fix/Pictures

Our infamous Door Stop “Click” is caused by the OEM bolt having a shoulder only the length of the rubber and not THOURGH the doorjamb bracket. The top part of the bolt wears and the bottom is pressed into the bracket where it cannot move, when the Door reaches different open settings the bolt “Clicks” against the bracket and the noise is transferred to the metal doorjamb.

Fix.
1. Buy a 3/8” X 5/8” shoulder bolt, 3/8” washer (I used Nylon washer) and nylon lock nut.
2.Remove the Door panel from SSR.
3.Remove Door Stop and grind small end off bracket bolt, punch out old bolt.
4.Drill Doorjamb Bracket holes with 3/8” drill, both holes.
5.Drill rubber arm hole with 3/8” Drill. Just one pass, don’t make hole large.
6. Put NEW Shoulder bolt thru bracket hole, rubber and bottom hole, put 3/8” washer on bolt, install lock nut and tighten.
7. Reinstall Door Stop on your SSR.

Done.

Cost? $1.78

No More “Click”.

You can purchase a NEW Stop from your Dealer. Only matter of time before the “Click” returns. Cost from Dealer $47.00 plus Tax.

The same Door Stop is used on the Cadillac 2007 CTS
Part# /D-67D-CTS or 6D10-031

Removal of Door Stop.

1. 10mm bolt removes bracket
2. Remove rubber boot on door, two nuts to remove, take assembly out.
3. Grind small end of bolt off
4. Punch out old bolt
5. Door Stop disassembled.

I think it was just posted that NEW Door Stops are now available at $100 some bucks apiece.

I did the fix because we could not get the NEW ones.

And Thanks guys, it does work.
