10 days ago my many weeks stored gave me some grief on attempted start up.
ck engine light and others came on as i fired, and fired and fired and finally, couldnt fire the engine! Charged the battery, added a 1 amp battery minder to the system and thought all was solved;until today. I drove 35 miles to lunch at highway speeds;had lunch and then went to a tire dealer next door to get nitro($4 per tire). When i went to start in their parking lot to move it inside-same start up problems-all the warning lites looking at me and several attempted starts and then it played dead.We pushed inside and they attempted to analize the battery and charging system-battery showed "less than ideal condition"(possible dying cell?).I opted for a new battery-it was installed and yet upon letting the rack down it displayed the same start up difficulty! Finally got it going (ck eng lite still on)and i elected to drive 35 miles home thru a now developing snow storm!-no problems with that but going to the dealer as soon as the storm lets up.BTW they got a code from the system that referred to a "throttle something, something". So,new battery-they tossed in the nitro for free-lol-and Im thinking ignition switch problem???

Sounds like the battery went south on you while in storage. Happens to the best of us. I'm hoping the stored codes will give the service tech the answer to your starting issues. I would be prepared for a bad switch....... GM has already come up with an improved switch that is supposed to be MUCH more robust...... but that is pure guesswork acrss the internet, unless you are psychic. I like to deal with facts and data....... let's get the codes.....
Glad you got home OK. Good luck on the speedy fix. Please fillus in on the findings.
regards,
Mike

thanks for the switch # Frank! -I have an appointment to take in on Friday morning.
talked to the service writer today and mentioned this site and the switch concerns talked about-could not initially find any service bullitins about defective switches but I'll arrive with the number in hand and hopefully Black Beauty will soon be back in action! thanks folks for the input ! Roy
got Black Beauty to the dealer this morning without a problem.Signed in and discussed the problem and my thoughts(gleaned from here)about the ignition switch and at that point a tech jumped in to move it and -- no start and nothing worked! talk about my gal coming thru at the appropriate time! lol Hopefully by this afternoon Ill be back on the road again! thanks to all who provided input.
after having Black Beauty all day complete with print-outs of threads from here and a part # the dealer called at 5pm to let me know "they had determined it probably is" a bad ignition switch! But,alas, none in stock-i mentioned i thought it was a somewhat generic switch that fit several GM models and he hesitated and said he would check into that and definitely have my sweety back on Monday!
