Effect of electronic throttle control on 6-speed SSRs

Those of you with 6-speed SSRs who think you have no "torque management" after you disable it in the PCM:

Check out page 4, the section on "Tip-in Bump Elimination on Manual Transmissions" in:

http://delphi.com/pdf/techpapers/2000-01-0556.pdf

Big Brother is everywhere . . .

In fact, for ALL SSR owners, the entire paper is interesting. Remember, this paper is fro the folks (Delphi) who supplied the electornics for your SSR.

Thanks - I forgot the name of that little 'feature'. Makes the 6 speed drive more like an auto. If you keep the rpm up, it's less pronounced though.

Jim - The fields that are changed in the 05-06 software for the removal of torque management are below. You will see that with the new system this can be controlled with the software by HP Tuner. The PCM in the 05-06 SSR's had the ETC integrated into the computer vice the 03-04 using at TAC separate from the computer. As you can see with the below tables I can adjust exactly what is being controlled by "Tip-in Bump Elimination on Manual Transmissions".

These are the adjustments I make for the removal of Torque Management on the 6 Speed SSR's:

ETC TPS Max - This table is completely set to 100%

Spark Retard vs Torque Reduction - This table is set to 0 degrees

Torque Loss % vs Spark Retard - This table is set to 0.0%

Joe: Read page 8, thinking as you do it, about my throttle body and pedal substitution. Particularly last 2 paragraphs on page 8 left hand column, and first one on RH column.
